Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher level staff.\nPrimary Duties\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.\nPerforms tasks associated with mail processing and distribution.\nSorts and collates incoming mail for distribution and dispatches outgoing mail.\nPlaces mail in proper buckets/tubs for dissemination.\nReceives outgoing mail and applies correct postage.\nMaintains postage records and updates filing, inventory, mailing and database systems.\nAdditional Responsibilities\nPerform x-ray scan using an x-ray machine to scan all mail and packages for security of customers if required by contract. If required at site, pull bags to be sent at the end of the day.\nFollow HAZMAT procedures for handling potentially hazardous mail.\nProcess unidentifiable mail by opening and reading mail so appropriate distribution can be completed.\nProcess machinable mail (folding, inserting, sealing, and opening) as needed.\nPerform other job related duties as assigned. \nQualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)\nHigh School Diploma, or General Educational Development (GED) required.\nExperience in operating various mailroom machines required.\nPrior experience working in a mail center preferred\nKnowledge of US Postal regulations in the process of dealing with incoming, outgoing, certified, registered, insured, and express mail preferred\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to perform routine tasks on special class mail as well as routine and repetitive tasks for long periods with minimum supervision.\nMust be able to stand, reach, and walk for long periods of time.\nAbility to make minor decisions regarding mail issues/questions.\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.\nAbility to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.\nGood reading and writing skills.\nAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply, and divide with 10's and 100's.\nAbility to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nBasic ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Office software and accountable mail tracking system. Basic typing skills.\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nThis position requires the ability to perform frequent walking and sustained mobility throughout a large-scale facility exceeding one million square feet in order to complete scheduled mail delivery and pickup routes. The incumbent must be able to safely push and maneuver a loaded mail cart over long distances, navigate hallways, offices, and service areas, and maintain a consistent pace while meeting delivery deadlines. The role also requires frequent lifting, carrying, moving, and handling of mail, packages, equipment, and office supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Additional physical demands include standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and repetitive use of hands and arms throughout the workday. The employee must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while performing routine material handling and transportation tasks.\nWork Environment\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
