The Janitor reports to the Lead Worker with support from the Assistant Project Manager, and cares for the facilities. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the public.Successfully obtain an interim and full DoD Secret Clearance.\nPrimary Duties\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.\nMaintain building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; wash windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork; sweep, scrub, clean and vacuum carpet, furniture; resupply soap and paper products in rest rooms and other amenities.\n\nMaintain building accessibility and appearance by picking up papers and trash.\n\nRemove trash by emptying trash containers, transport materials to disposal area, and collect recycling materials.\n\nKeep equipment operational by following the Lead Worker’s operating and care guidelines, completing operator repairs and parts replacement.\n\nPerform cleaning based on cleaning frequencies and schedules unless otherwise requested by supervisor and report back to supervisor any refusals of services or access that impact cleaning frequencies and schedules.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities\nMaintain a safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.\n\nWork closely and communicate positively and professionally with all co-workers, lead workers and management.\n\nMaintain continuity between shifts by documenting cleaning actions, noting areas requiring additional care or monitoring.\n\nContribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.\n\nPerform other responsibilities as assigned.\n\nQualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)\nMust be able to pass and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance required.\n\nHigh school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.\n\nAt least one (1) year custodial experience preferred.\n\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nKnowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products, and equipment preferred.\n\nKnowledge of the use of Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) preferred.\n\nAbility to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on the use and application of chemicals and products preferred.\n\nTeam building preferred.\n\nDecision making skills preferred.\n\nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The incumbent is frequently required use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects tools or controls. The incumbent must spend the entire time at work standing, walking, swooping, kneeling, lifting heavy objects, operating medium-weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors and moving desks and furniture. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions.\nNote: Operating floor polishers and waxers are particularly hard on back muscles.\nThe incumbent must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 70 pounds.
