You'll play a key role in establishing systems engineering best practice, driving technical governance, and ensuring products are released with confidence in their performance, safety, reliability, and compliance.\nPlease note: the successful candidate must have Right to Work in the UK on a permanent basis - no sponsorship is available for this opportunity.\nWhat You'll Be Doing\nWorking closely with Research, Product Development, Software, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Production, Quality, and Regulatory teams, you will:\nRequirements Engineering\nLead the capture, analysis, and management of customer, stakeholder, business, and regulatory requirements\nTranslate user needs into clear, measurable, and testable system requirements\nEstablish and maintain complete bidirectional traceability throughout the product lifecycle\nFacilitate requirements reviews and ensure alignment between stakeholders and development teams\nManage requirement changes and maintain configuration control throughout development\nSystem Architecture & Design\nContribute to system architecture development and technical solution definition\nSupport concept development, requirements allocation, and design trade-off activities\nEvaluate technical decisions against performance, reliability, compliance, manufacturability, and business objectives\nEnsure solutions remain scalable, maintainable, and testable\nRisk Management & Technical Governance\nLead system-level risk assessments and FMEA activities\nIdentify, communicate, and manage technical risks throughout product development\nFacilitate design reviews and provide robust technical justification for engineering decisions\nApply systems-thinking approaches to root cause investigations and problem solving\nVerification & Validation\nDevelop verification and validation strategies aligned to system and product requirements\nDefine acceptance criteria, verification methods, and evidence requirements\nReview verification results and validation outcomes to ensure complete coverage of requirements\nSupport system-level testing activities and provide objective assessments of product readiness\nLeadership & Continuous Improvement\nChampion systems engineering best practices across the business\nAbout You\nWe're looking for someone with the desire to own the full product development lifestyle, with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.\nEssential Experience and skills\nStrong experience and understanding of systems engineering principles across the full product lifecycle (from requirement to post release)\nSolid and proven experience in product development and technical leadership\nExperience with requirements elicitation, decomposition, allocation, and management\nProven experience maintaining requirements traceability\nStrong knowledge of verification and validation methodologies\nExperience leading risk assessments, FMEA activities, and technical reviews\nUnderstanding of system architecture development and interface management\nExperience working with multidisciplinary products involving software, electronics, mechanics, instrumentation, and complex systems\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to root cause analysis\nAbility to balance technical, commercial, regulatory, and operational considerations when making engineering decisions\nExperience mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practice\nDesirable Experience and skills\nExperience with requirements management tools such as Jama, DOORS, or equivalent\nKnowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML\nExperience within analytical instrumentation, spectroscopy, gas analysis, process monitoring, or related technologies\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001, CE/UKCA compliance, EMC, and product safety standards\nExposure to automated testing, data analysis, Python, or LabVIEW\nINCOSE, Six Sigma, Project Management, Quality, or Atlassian/Jira certifications\nQualifications\nDegree-qualified in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Electronics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline\nWhy Join Servomex?\nAt Servomex, you'll have the opportunity to work on technically challenging products that help customers improve safety, sustainability, efficiency, and performance across global industries.
