The role focuses on customer activation, technical onboarding, service validation, firewall and network access coordination, and operational support for live event distribution services.\nWorking closely with customers, the SES Master Control Room (MCR), Service Management, and Engineering teams, the Sports & Events Engineer ensures that new and existing customers are successfully integrated into SES distribution platforms and remain operationally ready for live sports and event broadcasts.\nThis position combines technical platform support with customer-facing activities and requires strong troubleshooting, coordination, communication, and operational skills.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS\nSupport the onboarding and activation of customers on SES sports and events distribution platforms, including Zixi and Nimbra Edge ARQ environments.\nConfigure, validate, and maintain customer services within operational platforms and supporting systems.\nPerform customer onboarding activities in scheduling and operational management systems, including SchedulALL.\nCoordinate and manage firewall whitelisting requests for customer services, including:SES network and security requirements.\nCoordination with customer technical teams to ensure reciprocal connectivity requirements are satisfied.\n\nConduct customer acceptance testing and service validation following onboarding activities.\nAct as a technical point of contact during customer onboarding and operational readiness activities.\nProvide operational support to Master Control Room (MCR) teams before, during, and after live sports and event broadcasts.\nTroubleshoot service issues related to content delivery, connectivity, transport streams, and customer reception.\nEscalate complex technical issues to Engineering teams and vendors as required while maintaining customer communication.\nMonitor platform performance and support service restoration activities during live events.\nMaintain accurate records of customer configurations, firewall requirements, operational procedures, and onboarding documentation.\nParticipate in operational readiness reviews, service launch activities, and post-event analysis.\nCOMPETENCIES\nStrong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nAbility to manage multiple customer onboarding projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.\nStrong troubleshooting and analytical skills in operational environments.\nAbility to remain calm and effective during high-profile live event operations.\nExcellent organizational and documentation skills.\nAbility to work effectively with Engineering, MCR, Service Management, Security, and Customer Support teams.\nAttention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.\nAbility to take ownership of issues and drive them through to resolution.\nQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE\nBroadcast Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.\n2-5 years of experience supporting IP-based media, video distribution, networking, broadcast, or managed service platforms.\nExperience working with customer-facing technical support or service delivery activities.\nFamiliarity with IP networking fundamentals, including:TCP/IP\nRouting and switching concepts\nFirewalls and access control\nNetwork troubleshooting\n\nUnderstanding video transport technologies and protocols is desirable.\nExperience with Zixi, Nimbra Edge, or similar IP video transport platforms is highly desirable.\nExperience coordinating customer technical onboarding activities.\nFamiliarity with scheduling, service management, or operational support platforms is desirable.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills in English.\nAbility to work outside standard business hours when supporting live events.\nOTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS\nSuccess in this role will be measured through:\nTimely and successful onboarding of new customers.\nAccurate implementation of customer technical requirements.\nEffective management of firewall and connectivity coordination activities.\nHigh-quality execution of customer acceptance testing.\nReliable support of live sports and event distribution services.\nStrong collaboration with MCR, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.\nMaintenance of accurate operational documentation and customer records.\nConsistent delivery of high levels of customer satisfaction.\n\nSES and its Affiliated Companies are committed to providing fair and equal employment opportunities to all.
