This project is the European Union's answer to the pressing challenges of tomorrow to provide secure connectivity services and enhanced communication capacities to the EU and its Member States as well as to governmental users, private companies and European citizens while ensuring high-speed internet broadband to cope with connectivity dead zones.\nSES - together with other consortium partners and core members - was selected by European Commission to build and to operate the IRIS2 multi-orbit satellite constellation.\nThe IRIS2 team enters next project phases and there is a strong need of support for all the activities around service provisioning and products that the system can offer in the future.\nRole Description\nThe RAMS Engineer (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety) is responsible for ensuring that all system and subsystem designs within the IRIS² programme meet the required dependability and safety objectives in accordance with ECSS-Q-ST-30C Rev.1 and the IRIS² Product Assurance and Safety Requirements Document.\nThe RAMS Engineer operates within the Product Assurance (PA) discipline and plays a key role in defining, reviewing, and validating RAMS requirements throughout the system lifecycle - from early design through to verification and delivery.\nAs a member of an agile project organization, you will be expected to bring a flexible way of working and an adaptive mindset to a dynamic development environment.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS\nRAMS Requirements Management\nIdentify and define the main RAMS requirements in coordination with SES/SpaceRise, ensuring proper flow-down to industrial partners and subcontractors.\nEnsure consistency of RAMS requirements across System, Space Segment, and Ground Segment levels.\nSupport the breakdown of high-level RAMS requirements down to subsystem and equipment level.\nMaintain traceability between top-level PA/RAMS requirements and lower-level implementation.\n\n Design and Development Phase (Main Workload)\nDevelop and deliver RAMS documentation according to the IRIS² PA Requirements and the Document Requirements List (DRL) applicable to the project.\nConduct, review, and consolidate the following analyses across system and segment levels:\nReliability Analysis\nFMEA/FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis)\nHSIA (Hardware/Software Interaction Analysis)\nContingency Analysis\nFault Tree Analysis (FTA)\nCommon Cause Analysis (CCA)\nWorst Case and Parts Stress Analyses (as applicable)\nAvailability Analysis\nFailure Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) Analysis\nHazard Analysis\nDependability Critical Items Identification (CIL) and Reporting\n\n Procurement and Subcontractor Management\nReview RAMS deliverables and technical documentation provided by subcontractors and suppliers during contractual reviews.\nAssess subcontractor compliance to RAMS requirements and ensure adequacy of inputs to system-level RAMS documentation.\nProvide expert feedback and guidance to ensure subcontracted designs meet reliability, availability, and safety criteria.\nConsolidate lower-level documentation (spacecraft and ground) into system-level RAMS reports.\n\n Reporting and Documentation\nPrepare and maintain RAMS documentation deliverables, ensuring compliance with PA requirements and project milestones.\nContribute RAMS reporting elements to progress reports and system reviews (e.g., PDR, CDR).\nSupport preparation of Safety Data Packages and ensure proper hazard tracking and closure.\nInterface with Product Assurance, Engineering, and Safety teams to ensure coherent integration of RAMS activities within the system lifecycle.\n\n________________________________________\n Deliverables\nSystem-Level RAMS Plan and Reports\nReliability, Availability, and Safety Analyses (System, Spacecraft, and Ground)\nFMEA/FMECA Reports\nFault Tree and Common Cause Analyses\nCritical Items List (CIL)\nHazard Analysis and Safety Data Package\nDependability Status in Progress Reports\nRAMS Input for PDR, CDR, and Qualification Reviews\n\nCOMPETENCIES\nExcellent project management skills, with strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment \nStrong ability to work independently and with limited supervision in complex environments, e.g. project or matrix organizations\nFlexibility and adaptability in response to changing project requirements and environments\nAbility to think strategically and align project goals with organizational objectives\nExcellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities\nEffective communication skills, both written and verbal\nStrong leadership and teamwork skills, with experience managing diverse expert teams and complex project organizations\nAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities\nInnovation mindset, encouraging and contributing to innovative approaches and solutions.\nProactive approach, can-do mentality and ability to work autonomously\nQUALIFICATIONS&EXPERIENCE\nMaster’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related field.\n5+ years of experience in RAMS or Product Assurance in the space or aerospace sector.\nStrong knowledge of ECSS-Q-ST-30C Rev.1 and related ECSS standards for dependability and safety.\nExperience in spacecraft, ground segment, or system-level RAMS activities.\nProven ability to perform and review dependability and safety analyses (FMEA/FMECA, FTA, CCA, etc.).\nFamiliarity with ESA or ECSS-based programmes and their documentation practices.\nStrong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English.\nOTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS\nEligibility for EU SECRET personnel security clearances is essential.
