HU7 0DG\nHours: 40 hours per week, 8.00am-5.00pm with 1 hour lunch break\nSalary: Dependant on experience\nClosing Date: 8 June 2026\nRole Overview\nReporting to the Managing Surveyor and Contracts Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of project delivery, across a range of projects generally valued between £200k and £10m, whilst ensuring compliance to all legal and quality standards.\nThe Quantity Surveyor will also be required to support cost development and commercial management during the pre-construction phase of projects as necessary, particularly those with which are developed on a two-stage or negotiated basis.\nWorking collaboratively with the wider project delivery team, the Quantity Surveyor will ensure full co-ordination with the operational team and work in harmony with the Contracts Manager or Project Manager to ensure commercial success and client satisfaction on each project.\nThe successful candidate will be required to commercially manage several projects at once taking full commercial responsibility for the projects allocated.\nTo learn more about Sewell Group and Sewell Construction, please follow the link below:\nHome - Sewell Group (sewell-group.co.uk)\nHome - Sewell Construction (sewell-construction.co.uk)\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop a detailed understanding of the client requirements and contractual obligations for each project and advise of any key risks to the bid team.\nUndertake high level cost planning and estimates during pre-construction phase.\nManage and maintain procurement schedule(s) to ensure visibility and timely procurement across all projects.\nPrepare robust tender documents and subcontract enquiries to meet all requirements of the project, including our commitment to local supply chain spend.\nUndertake due diligence of supply chain members in line with company governance procedures, ensuring suitability of each supply chain member.\nNegotiate and procure sub-contract works and manage cost through to final account including agreeing variations to the works packages.\nDevelop and implement suitable contracts, both with the client and supply chain.\nEnsure contract administration is undertaken throughout the lifecycle of each project to adequately protect the business and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.\nPrepare and submit project valuations and final accounts to the client, including pricing and agreeing variations.\nMonthly commercial reports to Managing Surveyor (CVRs, profit forecasting, cash flow etc).\nActively manage the risk and opportunity identification process throughout to ensure visibility and adequate mitigations and forecasting can be implemented. \nEnsure compliance with all internal commercial processes.\nRequirements\nAs well as exhibiting our company behaviours of being Positive, Professional, Customer Focused, a Team Player and Doing the Right Thing, the successful candidates will have the following:\nEssential: \nExperience across our core markets of health and education, including both refurbishment and new build.\nHave a strong knowledge of current Health and Safety practice and the ability to work closely with the operational team to ensure holistic decision making.\nA good understanding of the financial implications of methods and sequences of build. \nAbility to work on multiple projects at any one time and prioritise time and tasks accordingly. \nExtensive experience of working on NEC and JCT contracts (formal accreditation desirable)\nHold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying.\nProactive attitude towards delivering construction works to a world-class standard\nExcellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with senior clients & subcontractors.\nAbility to work using own initiative but also as part of a close-knit team.\nPossess a positive approach to learning, development and progression.\nHave a flexible approach towards working patterns (some out of hours working may be required to meet client deadlines).\nExcellent levels of computer literacy, and be fluent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.\nHold a full driving licence, valid in the UK. \nSewell Group is an equal opportunities employer, recruiting within the guidelines of the Equality Act 2010.
