This internship presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement.\nAs an intern on the People Operations team, you will work directly with the Senior Director of Payroll & Benefits, gaining hands-on exposure to multi-country payroll operations, compensation administration, and benefits management across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This is a learning-focused role designed to develop the next generation of People Operations talent at Sezzle, with a clear pathway for full-time conversion based on performance.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nSupport end-to-end payroll operations across multiple countries (US, Canada, Colombia), including data entry, reconciliation, and documentation.\n\nAssist with benefits enrollment, terminations, and employee lifecycle changes in our HRIS and benefits platforms.\n\nPerform data quality checks across payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.\n\nSupport monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and benefits audits, including preparing supporting documentation and reconciling variances.\n\nAssist with compensation research and benchmarking, including compiling market data for the annual compensation review cycle.\n\nHelp manage vendor invoices, track reconciliations, and prepare payment requests for payroll and benefits providers.\n\nMaintain employee files and records in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements in each jurisdiction.\n\nSupport compliance workstreams, including ERISA, ACA, FLSA and Colombian labor law, through data preparation and documentation.\n\nAct as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits and compensation\nDocument and map payroll, compensation, and benefits processes to identify automation and efficiency opportunities.\n\nSupport the administration of employee leave of absences, disability claims and COBRA\nParticipate in AI and automation initiatives within the People Operations function, including testing new tools and contributing to process improvements.\n\nAssist in the collection and filing of payroll and benefit tax forms\nSupport ad-hoc People Operations projects as they relate to Sezzle's growth, Utah Industrial Loan Company (ILC) bank charter readiness, and international expansion.\n\nWhat We Look For:\n Current university student or recent graduate in Finance \nStrong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.\nProficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular).\nEnglish proficiency (written and verbal) - must be able to collaborate with US-based teams daily.\nSpanish fluency (native or near-native).\nStrong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and eagerness to learn new domains.\nAbility to manage confidential information with discretion and integrity.\nComfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities.\nDemonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication.\nInterested in developing AI driven skills\nPreferred Qualifications:\nBasic understanding of Colombian payroll, taxation, and labor compliance.\nInterest in AI, automation, and RegTech applications within People Operations.\nAbout You:\nYou have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high.
