Our intentional culture promotes trust and participation, encouraging you to bring your heart and mind to work every day.\nDriver Examiner\nIn-Scope \nLocation: Weyburn \nTemporary, Full-Time \nTerm: 2 years\nDivision: Driver Examination Services \nPay Range: $58,460 - $73,784\nClose Date: October 13, 2026\nGENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY\nThe Driver Examiner is responsible for examination work involving assessing applicants for driver’s licences in accordance with standards established with respect to knowledge, vision, driving, and physical capabilities. This includes testing applicants for all classes of driver’s licences (i.e., Class 1 to Class 7) and endorsements (e.g., air brake, school bus, motorcycle). The Driver Examiner is responsible for coaching, educating, and encouraging unsuccessful road test applicants based on the driving skills demonstrated during the road test to increase their chance of success on the next road test and ensure they have a positive experience, even if they were not successful. The Driver Examiner is responsible for completing interviews, delivering Traffic Safety Education presentations, and assessing driver safety when SGI Driver Programs deems necessary. Work is performed at large examination centres, small examination centres, or from mobile units.\n\nKEY ACCOUNTABILITIES\nNote: This section is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities - other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.\nDriver Examinations\nAdministers and conducts written and oral examinations, vision screening, road tests for Class 1 through 7, and endorsements (e.g., air brake, school bus, heavy trailer, motorcycle). \nEvaluates test results and counsels applicants on areas for improvement. \nConducts visual inspections of vehicles used for testing for signs of safety issues. \nObserves applicants for signs and symptoms that may indicate a medical examination is required before a licence is issued. \nCreates routes for road testing in various locations. \nResponds to customer concerns regarding examinations and interviews. \nProvides input into ministerial inquiries. \nDriver Safety\nConducts investigations and interviews in connection with various programs (e.g., Driver Improvement Program, Graduated Driver’s Licence, Fraud ID), makes recommendations, and prepares reports. \nCreates customized Driver Ability Assessments (DAAs) for individuals based on their reported medical conditions. The customized DAA exposes the applicant to driving activities that are not standard road-testing criteria and allows the relevant criteria to be evaluated. Prepares reports based on DAA results. \nDelivers traffic safety presentations to large groups (e.g., Traffic Safety Education, Safety Talks in high school driver education classes). \nAnswers routine inquiries and provides information to issuers, the public, and employees relating to driving inquiries, rules of the road, and interpretations. \nAnswers public inquiries regarding driver licensing and driver examinations, either verbally or in writing. \nPartner Relationship\nCollaborates with external partners and organizations on various programs for driver examination services. \nAnswers inquiries from the public, enforcement agencies, legal professionals, court officials, and other outside agencies regarding driver licensing and Class 1-4 driver training programs or instruction. \nBranch Operations Support\nManages fleet vehicles for location. \nAdvises on the space, supply, and equipment requirements of the examination center. \nRecommends whether satellite locations adequately meet business and customer needs. \nHigh Performance Team & Culture\nSupports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively meet the key accountabilities within the scope of the role. \nDisplays leadership by committing to a culture of continuous learning/development of self and supports others by actively sharing knowledge, providing guidance, mentoring, training, and supporting developmental opportunities. \nDemonstrates that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility for self and others. \nActively applies knowledge to support transformation and strategic initiatives of the corporation, while participating and advocating change and applying a growth mindset. \n\nTECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS\nKnowledge of driver licence classifications. \nKnowledge of the skills and abilities required of drivers to qualify for each class and endorsement of drivers’ licences. \nKnowledge of written and oral examinations; sign, vision, and road tests; and endorsements for all classes of drivers’ licences. \nKnowledge of driver examinations policies and procedures. \nSkill in interviewing, investigating, counseling, and report writing. \nSkill in identifying applicants’ signs and symptoms that may require medical assessment for driver licensing purposes. \nKnowledge of driver education and driver control and improvement programs. \nKnowledge of vehicle classifications, Auto Fund automated systems, and rating and issuing systems, procedures, documents, and forms. \nKnowledge of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word and Excel), smart phone technology, and other technical devices used in the role. \n\n EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS\nTwo-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study, such as Business, or defined equivalency. \nCertified Driver Examiner Designation from AAMVA (American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators). \nSatisfactory driving record from Canada or the United States of America. \nFive years of Class 5 driving experience in Canada or the United States of America with at least two years of post-Graduated Driver's Licensing (GDL) program driving experience. \nApplicant is required to obtain the following licences, endorsements: o Class 1 license o Air brake endorsement o Motorcycle endorsement OR successful completion of all written motorcycle exams \n\nEXPERIENCE\n1 - 2 years’ experience in driver examination and/or driver instruction and customer service. \nAt SGI, we’re committed to building a workplace where everyone feels seen and heard, and where every individual is respected.
