This is a drive-in/drive-out position with accommodation and meals per diem. You will work 12-hours shifts that rotate between days and overnights\n*This position is physically demanding with repetitive tasks.\n*This position requires days and overnights on 12-hour shifts.\nThis position will carry out Fire Assay techniques following written work instructions to determine various mineral and metal concentrations.\nPerform Fire Assay techniques, such as fluxing, fusing, and cupelling samples according to written procedures.\nCarry out routine equipment maintenance under direction of supervisor.\nComplete and maintain accurate, up to date work order documentation, fusion sheets and logs in every respect.\nCarries out routine equipment maintenance under the direction of his/her supervisor.\nFollow all Quality system protocols and report discrepancies to Supervisor.\nMaintain a clean work environment which includes proper disposal of crucibles, cupels and fire assay lead wastes.\nOrganize and label waste disposal.\nMay be asked to work in other areas of the Geochemistry laboratory sections when required.\nMay be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.\n Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) is required.\nExperience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant laboratory work experience preferred or equivalent lab experience through education.\nMust be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.\nCandidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, CCLAS, Oracle, etc.).\nCandidates must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.\nThe incumbent must have time management skills and strong attention to detail\n Work well under pressure\nAbility to manage and co-ordinate multiple projects in fast-paced, highly professional environment.\nExtended hours and shift work may be required.\nMust be comfortable working with ovens and in high temperature environments. \nGood hand/eye coordination when handling samples & lab equipment.\n Ability to work well with others & independently.\nTravel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.\n Compensation: $23 to $25 per hour\nSome benefit highlights:\n80% coverage Health, Dental and Vision \nPaid time off\nRRSP Program Eligibility \nSGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression and Indigenous status, or any other characteristics protected by law.\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
