and operation of the Geomet department.\nResponsible for effective and appropriate use of equipment and facilities, including breakdowns, maintenance, repairs and servicing according to internal schedules.\nResponsible for development, effective utilization and supervision of human resources within the department, including training, recruitment and disciplinary issues.\nResponsible for carrying out the required test work unsupervised.\nResponsible for sample routing, formulating changes, improving workflow, and maximum utilization of resources in the department.\nAttending client meetings, liaising with clients when required.\nResponsible for preparing accurate log sheets and performing quality checks on test work data.\nRequired to prepare presentations of test work data and prepare project update reports.\nEnsure housekeeping in the allocated work area.\nResponsible for logging samples on the Laboratory LIMS system.\nResponsible for reporting any non-conformances to the Quality and Laboratory Manager.\nProvide training and direction for operators.\nOverall KPI responsibility within the section.\nAdhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.\nResponsible for Health and Safety within the Geochem Fire Assay and sample prep departments.\nEnsuring that company policies are adhered to by all staff and communicating any changes to these policies to the staff.\nComplying and conforming to the QHSE policy of the company.\nMust be fully acquainted with the LIMS system.\nMust comply with and conform to the Quality Management System (ISO17025 and SANAS).\nAdhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.\nPerform any other reasonable tasks assigned by direct line manager.\nGrade 12 or NQF Level 4\nMinimum BSc or N Diploma in Chemistry.\nExperience\n\nMinimum of 3 years in a similar field\nCompetencies\nAble to follow written instructions to the finest detail.\nGood communication skills\n COMPLIANCE & AUTHORITY\nCease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or entry to hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection, and take action to address the hazard.\nCease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and take action to address the issue.\nInitiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified, or when nonconformity is
