We are accredited by NATA and ISO 9001, ensuring our services meet both Australian and international standards.\n Job Description\nRole based in Kalgoorlie, WA\nPermanent Full Time\nRemuneration: $95k - 100k per annum\nRoster: 4 days, 4 nights, 4 days off\nWe are seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team based in Kalgoorlie, supporting laboratory testing and analysis activities.\nResponsibilities include, however, not limited to:\nEnsure a safe work environment exists for self and all staff. Assist in the daily management of the Laboratory and ensure timely and quality analysis of samples. Act as a relieve supervisor as and when required. \nMaintain detailed and accurate records pertaining to sample submission, sample preparation process and achieving sample turnaround time.\nOperating instruments in relevant department. ICP-MS/OES, MP-AES, AAS\nMaintaining of all areas of the laboratory including the following specific procedures.\nFairly delegate tasks to the team of sample preparation and laboratory assistants daily\nMonitor and assist with productivity of the laboratory and ensure all samples are progressing through the laboratory in a timely manner\nEnsure that samples are organized and arrange for return of samples and waste materials to clients (if required) in a timely manner and following the correct procedures\nEnsure all new staff are trained and training documents available\nEnsure all staff are following Health and Safety procedures in all areas of the laboratory\nCoordinate with clients and keep them informed with sample progress\nEnsure all laboratory work areas are kept clean, functional and uncontaminated\nEnsure equipment is in working order\nEnsure all analysis is completed and work priorities are organized to meet client needs/contracts\nMaintain the Quality Management System and Laboratory Manuals\nCheck results for quality and accuracy\nSchedule regular maintenance and do basic maintenance on equipment as and when required\nPerform general administrative support duties, as required\nAt all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.\n To be successful in this role you must have:\nProfessional qualifications in chemistry or related discipline \nExperience in laboratory work, sample preparation and chemical knowledge\nBasic understanding of computer applications\nUnderstanding of acid extraction methods and recognition of sample types \nUnderstanding Analytical procedures\nUnderstanding of fire assay operation and laboratory techniques\nDemonstrated experience in administration\nCompetent in using CCLAS LIMS\nKnowledge of Company Quality Systems\nCompetent in ICP-MS/OES\nCompetent in MP-AES\nCompetent in AAS \n WHY WORK FOR SGS?\nWorking at SGS means joining an innovative, Global company.
