This exciting partnership combines Gidlow's engineering expertise with SGS's global leadership in testing, inspection, and certification, creating exceptional opportunities for growth, innovation, and career development.\nAs our geothermal and industrial projects continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Taupō team.\nWe're looking for a practical, hands-on professional who enjoys solving mechanical challenges, takes pride in quality workmanship, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety.\nAs a Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in the maintenance, repair, overhaul, and installation of geothermal pipeline systems, valves, steamfield equipment, and associated infrastructure. Working across workshop and site environments, you will contribute to both planned maintenance activities and critical outage projects.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform routine maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and installations on geothermal pipeline systems, valves, and steamfield equipment.\nCarry out planned and emergency outage work while minimising operational downtime.\nDiagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions.\nSafely and efficiently utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialist fitting equipment.\nRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, engineering specifications, and work instructions.\nConduct quality inspections and measurements to ensure work meets required standards and tolerances.\nCollaborate with supervisors, project teams, and geothermal operations personnel to deliver successful project outcomes.\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, materials used, and outage work completed.\nEnsure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) requirements.\nActively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.\n Essential Requirements\nTrade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.\nProven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or within a similar engineering, maintenance, or industrial fitting role.\nStrong practical skills in mechanical assembly, disassembly, maintenance, and repair work.\nProficiency using hand tools, power tools, and fitting equipment.\nAbility to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.\nStrong fault-finding, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.\nFull New Zealand Driver Licence. \nDesirable Skills & Experience\nPrevious experience working within geothermal operations or steamfield environments.\nA Class 2 and Class 4 New Zealand drivers licence\nKnowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.\nExperience with precision measuring tools and gauges.\nAdditional certifications or specialist training in mechanical fitting or engineering disciplines.\nDemonstrated
