SGS is looking for an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program Manager to work on site at Microsoft Quantum in Lyngby. This practical, visible role supports a fast-moving research and development environment across cleanrooms, laboratories and workshops, in close partnership with engineers, technicians, site stakeholders and specialist vendors.
The successful candidate will view OHS as an enabling function: helping teams understand risk, choose effective controls and move development forward safely and responsibly. The environment is diverse, technically complex and often hectic. Priorities evolve quickly, so sound judgement, transparency, adaptability and collaborative problem-solving are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day OHS support for Microsoft Quantum laboratory operations, including cleanrooms, technical laboratories, workshops and associated support activities.
- Partner with technical teams to identify hazards, assess risk and develop proportionate, workable controls for new and changing equipment, materials, processes and work activities.
- Prepare, review and maintain risk assessments, safe work procedures, job hazard analyses and other OHS documentation in alignment with applicable requirements and internal standards.
- Support chemical safety activities, including new chemical reviews, safe handling and storage, waste considerations, exposure controls and relevant regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate and deliver OHS onboarding, laboratory safety induction and task-relevant training for employees, contingent staff, visitors and vendors.
- Support incident, near-miss and safety-observation reporting, investigation, corrective actions and learning.
- Participate in workplace assessments, inspections and laboratory-readiness reviews; track actions through to appropriate closure.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, facilities partners, service providers and external authorities on matters within the role’s scope.
- Maintain clear records, dashboards and task visibility, and contribute to agile ways of working across local and global OHS teams.
- Use digital tools to improve consistency, traceability and efficiency while applying appropriate security and confidentiality practices.
The role uses Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint and the Microsoft Office suite, for collaboration, documentation and reporting. AI-assisted and coding or automation tools may also support research, drafting, data organization and process improvement, subject to security, confidentiality and quality-review requirements. Prior coding experience is helpful but not required; curiosity and willingness to learn are more important.
You are a collaborative and service-oriented professional who enjoys working closely with technical teams and stakeholders. You communicate clearly, provide practical OHS guidance and are comfortable navigating changing priorities and complex situations. With a structured approach and strong follow-through, you can balance operational, compliance and improvement activities while keeping sight of critical details.
Curious by nature, you are eager to learn about new technologies and value the expertise of colleagues from different disciplines. You combine sound judgement with a pragmatic mindset, finding effective solutions that support the business while maintaining high standards for health, safety and legal compliance. Most importantly, you build positive working relationships across cultures, functions and organizational boundaries, contributing to a collaborative and inclusive working environment.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific, engineering or technical discipline.
- Relevant experience applying occupational health and safety principles in a laboratory or technical environment is required. This may come from a dedicated OHS role or from a laboratory role with substantial safety responsibilities.
- Practical experience from a laboratory, cleanroom, semiconductor development, analytical laboratory or comparable technical R&D environment. Applicants with other relevant high-technology or industrial laboratory experience will also be considered.
- Working knowledge of risk assessment, incident prevention, safe systems of work and practical OHS implementation.
- Professional communication skills in English.
- Professional proficiency in Danish is mandatory because the role requires communication with Danish authorities and local stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to work regularly in cleanroom, laboratory and workshop environments.
Preferred qualifications
- Formal education, certification or relevant coursework in EHS/OHS, occupational health, safety engineering, industrial hygiene or a related field.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, cleanroom, advanced materials, chemistry, cryogenic, gas or other complex laboratory activities.
- Experience in a large, matrixed organization or service function with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating contractors or vendors in a technical workplace.
- Familiarity with Danish and EU occupational health, safety and chemical-management requirements.
- Experience with digital task management, reporting or process improvement.
What success looks like
In this role, you build strong relationships with technical teams and are recognised as a trusted, pragmatic partner who enables safe and efficient ways of working rather than creating unnecessary barriers. You are comfortable moving between hands-on laboratory support, compliance activities, documentation and stakeholder coordination, adapting your approach to the needs of the situation.
You communicate openly and constructively, raising concerns when needed while maintaining a solutions-oriented mindset. You remain flexible when priorities change and reliably deliver on agreed actions. Applying requirements with sound judgement, you are able to distinguish between routine operations, non-routine activities, maintenance work and emergency situations, ensuring that the right level of control and support is in place.
As part of a distributed team, you collaborate effectively with colleagues across locations, actively share knowledge and lessons learned, and seek specialist support whenever needed to achieve the best outcomes.
