Accommodations, meals and shuttle bus provided.\nPreference will be given to those located in the Prince George/Vanderhoof area.\nThis position will carry out various routine preparation, testing and analysis, following written work instructions under the direction of the Supervisor/Senior Assayer.\nThis job description applies to employees working in the Digestion, Instrumentation, Fire Assay, and Sample Reduction/Preparation departments.\nSample reception, sample identification, sample preparation (sorting, drying, crushing, pulverizing, screening), sample weighing, fire assay (fluxing with lead flux, fusing, cupelling), sample digestion with acids, sample dilutions, sample determinations, setting up analytical batches and analysis, batch Quality Control.\nEnsure samples are logged into LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) accurately and in a quick manner.\nWorking knowledge of LIMS.\nEnsure samples are catalogued and stored in an efficient and easily retrievable manner.\nAssists in locating and retrieving of samples and responsible for sample disposal or returning samples to clients.\nCalibration and set up of laboratory equipment prior to analysis.\nMaintain and record equipment calibrations.\nPreparation of standards and reagents.\nInterpreting and evaluating results.\nMonitor Equipment maintenance & laboratory supplies.\nCarry out routine equipment maintenance under the direction of the supervisor.\nComplete and maintain accurate, up to date work order documentation and logs in every respect.\nFollow all company health, safety and environmental policies.\nMaintains a clean working environment which includes proper disposal of waste, including lead, cyanide and acid.\nOrganize and label waste disposal.\nFollow all Quality system protocols, report discrepancies to the Supervisor.\nMay be asked to work in other areas of the laboratory sections.\nMay be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed\n A post secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Science) is a strong asset.\nStrong analytical and mechanical skills.\nGood hand/eye coordination.\nAble to work in a physically demanding work environment.\nA willingness to learn new tests, instrumentation and procedures.\nMust be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on a computer screen.\nMust be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.\nAble to work well under pressure during high (peak) workloads and balancing conflicting demands of high volume versus the quality of results.\nMust be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel.
