This position is responsible for the transportation of environmental samples between client locations and our SGS laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving company vehicles to designated client sites, collecting coolers containing environmental samples, transporting samples safely and securely, and delivering them to the laboratory within established timelines.\nThis position requires excellent attention to detail, a strong commitment to health and safety, dependable customer service, and the ability to work independently while following established procedures.\nKey Responsibilities\nOperate company vehicles safely and responsibly while travelling to and from client locations following all company health and safety polices.\nFollow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely sample pickup and delivery.\nMust be available and willing to work flexible hours which could include rotating schedules.\nPick up coolers and containers of environmental samples from client sites.\nVerify that sample coolers and associated documentation are properly identified and accounted for at the time of pickup.\nHandle, load, secure, transport, and unload sample coolers in accordance with laboratory procedures.\nTake the temperature of samples upon receipt and maintain appropriate sample temperature and handling conditions during transportation, as required by laboratory procedures and applicable project requirements.\nDeliver samples to the laboratory within required holding times and established schedules.\nComplete chain-of-custody documentation and other required records accurately and promptly, including scanning and emailing documents with the use of mobile devices.\nMaintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and sample transportation equipment.\nPerform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.\nRefuel vehicles and ensure they remain in suitable operating condition.\nMaintain professional and courteous communication with clients and laboratory staff.\nEnsure full compliance with SGS's Health and Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct Policies and applicable regulations\nParticipate in safety training and other training required for the position, including Defensive Driving, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and WHMIS (provided)\nMaintain a safe and satisfactory driving record\nPerform other related duties as assigned.\nThe position may require:\nFrequent driving and extended periods of sitting.\nFrequent entering and exiting of vehicles.\nLifting and carrying sample coolers and containers, potentially on uneven surfaces or stairs.\nBending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and other material-handling activities.\nWorking outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.\nVisiting industrial, commercial, municipal, construction, and other client sites.\nWorking around vehicles, equipment, industrial operations, and potentially hazardous materials.\nOccasional schedule flexibility to accommodate client pickup requirements and laboratory sample holding times.\nCandidates must be capable of safely performing the physical requirements of the position, with accommodation provided in accordance with applicable legislation.\n Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.\nMust be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.\nValid driver's license with a clean or acceptable driving record.\nPrevious courier, delivery, logistics, laboratory, environmental, or field-service experience is an asset.\nExperience driving a cargo van, pickup truck, or similar vehicle is an asset.\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple scheduled pickups and deliveries.\nExcellent attention to detail and ability to accurately complete documentation.\nProfessional and courteous communication skills.\nAbility to safely lift, carry, push, and pull sample coolers and other materials up to 50 lbs\nAbility to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.\nAbility to follow written procedures and health and safety instructions.\nAbility to work well with others as well as independently\nBasic computer or mobile-device skills for completing electronic records, schedules, or delivery documentation.\n Salary: $19.50/hr\nSGS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such we recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job classifications without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, genetics, status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristics protected by law.\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
