The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices have also recognized SGS Group for its sustainability practices.\nIn Canada, SGS employs more than 2,000 team members across 70 locations.\n Ensure the safe operation of the terminal while remaining aware of the importance of protecting one's own safety and that of coworkers.\n\nUnderstand and comply with the client's health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and standards.\n\nUnderstand and identify hazards present at the worksite.\n\nWork safely by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and take the necessary measures to eliminate hazardous situations as quickly as possible.\n\nEnsure the reliable operation of the terminal by regularly and carefully monitoring equipment conditions and communicating any issues to the facility supervisor as they arise.\n\nIssue or authorize work permits in accordance with company standards.\n\nEnsure the receipt and shipment of products by vessel and through transfer lines into storage tanks.\n\nServe as a member of the emergency response team and actively participate in emergency situations, including fires and spills, as required.\n\nPrepare detailed daily reports covering activities, operations, equipment issues, quality concerns, administrative matters, and other relevant information. Explain any deviations from planned activities and document the measures taken to mitigate issues.\n\nMonitor transfer line and terminal activities to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, as well as the client's procedures and policies.\n\nMaintain effective communication with key stakeholders, including terminal and refinery operators, the marine group, and supply teams.\n\nPerform quality control checks in accordance with established guidelines, critically assessing equipment performance. Inspect the site for any safety, environmental, or commercial concerns.\n\nPerform routine duties as assigned, including but not limited to preventive maintenance program equipment inspections, snow removal, facility housekeeping, general administration and recordkeeping, replenishment of supplies, shipping, and receiving.\n\nPerform minor maintenance, adjustments, calibration, and lubrication of equipment as required. Maintain pumps, valves, and motors, and perform the startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting of process equipment.\n\nIsolate products and follow the appropriate lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.\n\nCollect product samples at scheduled intervals or whenever quality issues require it.\n\nBe able to perform all job duties on an ongoing basis.\n\nMaintain the competencies required for the position by reading and understanding new procedures and relevant changes to manuals and documentation.\n\nParticipate in the development and revision of procedures, as well as the preparation of work orders and the Management of Change (MOC) Manual.\n\nConduct safety observations to ensure contractors remain committed to safe work practices while working on-site.\n\n Education: High school diploma or equivalent.\n\nExperience: 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience gained through education.\n\nExperience working in marine terminal operations; preferably, hold an industry competency card and have relevant industry experience.\n\nThorough knowledge of all government maritime regulations and standards, including ISGOTT, is a significant asset.\n\nThorough knowledge of WHMIS and TDG requirements.\n\nValid driver's license.\n\nMaintain current St. John Ambulance/CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications.\n\nStrong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.\n\nAbility and willingness to work day and night shifts, weekdays and weekends, rotating shifts, and on-call schedules, as well as overtime when required.\n\nPhysical ability to perform all duties and responsibilities associated with the Terminal and Transfer Line Operator position.\n\nComfortable working outdoors.\n\nMechanical aptitude to understand and manage the operation of terminal systems and equipment.\n\nMechanical skills required to perform minor maintenance on terminal equipment.\n\nDemonstrated ability to work with computer equipment.\n\nStrong computer skills, including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.\n\nExcellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.\n\nAbility to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, professional environment.\n\nAbility to work under pressure.\n\nAbility to read, understand, and follow work instructions accurately and promptly while complying with safety requirements.\n\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.\n\nStrong work ethic and adaptability.\n\nAbility to work effectively as part of a team, assist others, and share skills and knowledge.\n\nWillingness and ability to learn and apply new skills.\n\nWillingness to accept responsibility and uphold company standards of conduct in daily work practices.\n\nOccasional travel to other SGS offices may be required.\n\nEnsure full compliance with company policies regarding occupational health and safety, the Code of Integrity, and the Code of Conduct.\n\n SGS Canada is an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to promoting greater accessibility by providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout our hiring process.
