As the Manager of the Electrical Engineering Team, you will play a pivotal, hands-on role in product development, leading design reviews and driving the delivery of high-quality, transformative products. This role is centered on New Product Introductions (NPI), product launches, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with industry standards while enhancing product functionality and consumer experience.\nResponsibilities \nProduct Development & NPI\nLead hands-on design review, prototyping, and validation of consumer appliance electrical systems, including electronic components, control panels, graphical user interfaces, and mechanism controls.\nDrive electrical aspects of NPI efforts, ensuring timely, high-quality product launches.\nTroubleshoot and refine designs to improve performance, reliability, and user experience throughout the product lifecycle.\nPartner with product design, manufacturing and quality teams to support efficient and reliable production processes, addressing design-to-production challenges.\nDefine test plans, reports and sign-off on all Product Engineering document changes.\nProduct Safety & Supplier Relationship Management\nFoster relationships with suppliers of electrical components and assemblies, as well as compliance agencies, to ensure seamless coordination for product safety, reliability, and performance reviews.\nServe as the subject matter expert and key contact for electrical component and product development teams, facilitating collaboration and driving desired strategic outcomes.\nLeverage strong business acumen to maintain effective partnerships with suppliers and agencies, balancing cost, quality, and delivery timelines to support organizational goals.\nCoordinate compliance activities with third-party labs and agencies (e.g., UL, Intertek) for standards such as UL, CSA, FCC, and DOE, ensuring efficient planning and documentation with minimal disruption.\nLeadership & Collaboration\nMentor and inspire a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, compliance specialists, and lab technicians.\nActively participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, guiding team members and fostering a hands-on approach to problem-solving.\nCultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering, manufacturing and product development teams.\nOther duties as assigned.\nOccasional travel required.\nPosition Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s a plus) and 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.\nDirect hands-on experience in the development of consumer products, especially consumer electronics or appliances, with expertise in prototyping, NPI, and compliance.\nProficiency in electrical components, schematics, and specifications for consumer products.\nExperience with compliance standards (UL, CSA, FCC) and regulatory frameworks.\nExperience with cross-functional collaboration in design, engineering, and manufacturing.\nExpertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.\nPhysical Requirements\nWork is performed in an office and laboratory environment and requires the ability to operate standard laboratory equipment, office equipment, and keyboards in close proximity to others. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
