Are you an organised and proactive individual who can build positive relationships with young people, parents, and staff?\nWe are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our Student Services team at Southampton College. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in promoting student attendance, punctuality, wellbeing, and success across the College.\nThis role is full time (37 hours per week) on a 40-week term-time contract.\nAs an Attendance Officer, you will monitor and support student attendance across the College, with a particular focus on students who may be vulnerable or at risk of disengagement. You will work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding teams, students, and parents/guardians to improve attendance and ensure appropriate support is in place.\nDuties\nMonitoring student attendance and punctuality using College systems.\nProcessing and recording student absences and notifying relevant staff.\nContacting students, parents, and guardians regarding attendance concerns.\nSupporting teaching teams to follow up with persistent non-attendees.\nManaging daily absence text communications and responding to related queries.\nProducing attendance reports and highlighting concerns to relevant teams.\nMaintaining accurate student records and updating attendance information in line with College policies.\nSupporting student sign-out procedures and ensuring appropriate permissions are obtained.\nWorking collaboratively with safeguarding, wellbeing, and academic teams to support student engagement and achievement.\nIdeal Candidate\nWe are looking for someone who:\nHas excellent administrative and organisational skills.\nCommunicates confidently and professionally with a range of stakeholders.\nCan handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.\nHas strong attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.\nIs able to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.\nHas a commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.\nIs passionate about supporting students and improving outcomes.\nPrevious experience within education, attendance monitoring, student services, customer service, or administration would be advantageous.\nAbout Us\nThe South Hampshire College Group (SHCG) is a dynamic, purpose driven Further Education organisation with a commitment to Creating Better Futures for learners, employers and communities within South Hampshire and beyond.\nWe pride ourselves on living our values - Collaborative, Inclusive and Aspirational.
