This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality Marine Engineering programmes by maintaining industry-standard workshops, equipment and learning resources.\nAs a Marine Engineering Technician, you will provide technical support to staff and students across our Marine Engineering provision. You will be responsible for ensuring workshops, equipment and training resources are maintained to a high standard, enabling safe and effective practical learning experiences.\nWorking closely with teaching staff, you will help prepare practical sessions, maintain specialist marine engineering equipment and support students in developing the skills they need for careers within the marine and maritime industries.\nWeoffer great benefits including;\nGenerous annual leave\nEnhanced employer pension contribution\nRegular training and development\nDuties\nPrepare and set up tools, equipment, engines and learning resources for practical sessions.\nMaintain Marine Engineering workshops, stores and training areas to a high standard.\nCarry out routine maintenance and safety checks on marine engines, training rigs, workshop machinery and associated equipment.\nManage stock levels of engineering materials, consumables and spare parts.\nMaintain inventories and records of equipment and resources.\nSupport lecturers and students during practical activities and assessments.\nDeliver workshop inductions and promote safe working practices.\nAssist with the maintenance and preparation of training vessels and specialist marine equipment.\nEnsure compliance with health and safety legislation, maritime standards and College procedures.\nContribute to a positive, inclusive and professional learning environment.\nExperience\nWe are looking for an individual who has:\nExperience working within a Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Maritime environment.\nKnowledge of marine engines, propulsion systems and engineering workshop equipment.\nAn understanding of health and safety requirements within an engineering or marine setting.\nExcellent organisational and communication skills.\nThe ability to work effectively as part of a team and support students and staff.\nExperience of stock control, equipment maintenance and workshop organisation.\nA commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.\nDesirable qualifications and experience include:\nA recognised qualification in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.\nExperience working in an educational or training environment.\nFirst Aid qualification or a willingness to undertake training.\nAbout Us\nThe South Hampshire College Group (SHCG) is a dynamic, purpose driven Further Education organisation with a commitment to Creating Better Futures for learners, employers and communities within South Hampshire and beyond.\nWe pride ourselves on living our values - Collaborative, Inclusive and Aspirational.
