Product Control will complement and strengthen the existing Market Risk advisory model through independent ownership of trading P&L control, valuation governance and performance attribution across a global commodities trading business. \nThe role is accountable for the integrity of daily and month-end trading P&L, valuation governance, reserves and associated controls across physical and financial trading activities. Acting as a senior partner to Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology, the role provides transparent insight into business performance while maintaining an effective and independent control environment. \nProduct Control represents a significant enhancement to the T&S control framework. The successful candidate will lead the establishment and global rollout of the capability, transform existing operating models and drive greater consistency, transparency and efficiency across a complex trading landscape.\nWhat you'll be doing\nThe successful candidate will be able to translate complex valuation, performance and control matters into clear, practical and decision-oriented insight for senior stakeholders.\nThe dimensions of the role are:\nGlobal scope across physical and financial commodities trading businesses \nAccountability for daily and month-end P&L and valuation integrity \nLeadership of multi-location Product Control teams, including offshore capability \nOversight of market risk (valuation) controls, reserves governance and independent price verification activities \nSignificant engagement with Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Operations, Technology and Audit \nLeadership of strategic change, process standardisation, and systems transformation initiatives \nDriving automation, digital enablement and operational excellence across Product Control \nKey Accountabilities\nP&L and Valuation Control:\nEnsure accurate, timely and independently validated trading P&L reporting across global portfolios \nEstablish and oversee valuation methodologies, reserves governance and independent price verification processes \nReview and challenge P&L attribution, valuation adjustments and material performance drivers \nProvide transparent explanation of financial performance, valuation impacts and risk drivers \nDevelop robust control metrics, exception reporting and performance indicators to monitor data and process integrity \nIdentify and address control, data and process gaps across trade capture, valuation and reporting workflows \nEnsure compliance with governance standards, regulatory expectations and control requirements \nSupport valuation committees, audits and governance forums \nLeadership and Business Partnership:\nEstablish, lead and develop a high-performing global Product Control organisation \nBuild trusted partnerships across Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Operations and Technology while maintaining appropriate independence and challenge \nProvide insightful analysis of trading performa\nnce, valuation impacts and operational inefficiencies to support business decision-making \nDrive standardisation, automation and simplification across Product Control processes and reporting \nSupport new business activity, complex transactions and strategic growth initiatives \nSponsor and deliver transformation programmes that enhance reporting quality, control effectiveness and operating efficiency \nWhat you bring\nLeading globally distributed teams across multiple commodities businesses, systems and processes, the role requires a combination of deep trading markets expertise, operational excellence, transformation leadership and strong stakeholder engagement.\nFurthermore, we'd also like to see:\nStrong knowledge of energy trading, financial markets and risk management practices across physical and financial commodities businesses \nSignificant experience in Product Control, Valuation Control, Market Risk or related control disciplines within a trading environment \nDeep understanding of physical commodities, derivatives, structured transactions and valuation methodologies \nStrong knowledge of P&L attribution, valuation governance, reserves and control frameworks \nUnderstanding of valuation models, model governance and validation processes within trading environments \nProven leadership capability with experience building and leading high-performing teams \nExperience leading organisational, process, data or systems transformation initiatives \nStrong stakeholder management skills with the credibility to influence, challenge and align senior commercial, finance and risk stakeholders \nStrong analytical capability, commercial judgement and commitment to data and process excellence \nExcellent communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to engage effectively across technical and senior leadership audiences \nCandidates who combine commercial acumen with intellectual curiosity, a progressive and digitally enabled mindset, and a passion for operational excellence will be particularly well suited to this role.\nWhat we offer\nYou bring your skills and experience to Shell and in return you work with talented, committed people on one of the most important challenges facing our planet.
