This position requires assisting in designing, building, and conducting laboratory tests of materials in a wide variety of chemical environments, including those at high temperature and/or high pressure (some involving hydrogen sulfide), and providing contributions to failure analyses.\nWhat’s you’ll be doing\nThe Materials and Corrosion Research Associate is expected to:\n Safely conduct laboratory testing, including sample preparation, test setup, test progress monitoring, data collection, documentation, and reporting.\nTesting of materials in various chemical environments, especially electrochemical testing, immersion testing in high pressure autoclave using toxic gases\nMaintain testing equipment, perform data acquisition/recording/documentation per departmental quality and safety requirements\nBe the owner for all equipment in the relevant area, responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of equipment and all related documentation\nExecute laboratory maintenance or new /revamp projects (Management of Change) with required safety systems (ex. Lock Out and Tag Out (LOTO), engineering controls, administrative controls, portable and fixed detection, F&G systems etc.\nPerform operation of process control and run data acquisition systems. \nTimely deliver validated and reduced data/reports to project leader.\nBe responsible for modifying experimental units and maintaining all required documentation.\nWhat we need from you?\nBachelor of Engineering or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy. \nA minimum of 4 years of industry/site experience including a minimum of one year of experience of materials compatibility testing, mechanical testing in a corrosion laboratory environment. \nExperience in various forms of mechanical and metallurgical testing. \nExperiences in the areas of corrosion testing including working with autoclave will be given extra weightage. \nDemonstrated skilled proficiency in evaluating equipment design and installation. Have understanding on PEFS drawings, circuit diagrams, PEFS, P&IDs, operation and maintenance manuals of OEMs etc. as per Shell and International Standards. \nHave a good grasp on mechanical and metallurgical aspects of various materials as commonly used in oil and gas industry\nFamiliarity with STCB site operations, HSE management systems, permit-to-work, how to raise MOC, RAMS, Sphera Cloud etc is essential for this role. \nWillingness and ability to learn new things and adapt it to the own work environment. \nExperience with laboratory testing and handling of chemicals\nUnderstanding of Shell DEP/ASME/ASTM/NACE standards \nAbility to organize and manage multiple projects and job duties\nExperiences in establishing laboratory, setting up test equipment’s in a multinational company’s laboratory environment is preferred \nImportant soft skills include: Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to listen well, ability to adapt quickly in a cross-cultural environment, good organizational skills, self-motivated to learn, successful experience working as part of a team being comfortable with change and being able to respond rapidly to it.
