Description:\nWhat’s the role?\nShell is seeking a Retail Site Assurance Advisor to join its team in Calgary.\nThe purpose of the role is to provide independent assurance across Shell's Company Owned retail network in Canada, with risk and assurance responsibilities extending to other business channels and locations as required, strengthening business controls, minimizing losses, supporting compliance, and enabling resilient business performance.\nKey Accountabilities\nRetail Site Assurance & Auditing\nProvide on-site assurance coverage across Company Owned retail sites throughout Canada.\nConduct scored, sample-based audits of service stations to monitor Retailer compliance with company requirements, operating procedures and business controls.\nAssess the effectiveness of site-level controls and identify financial, operational, inventory and compliance risks.\nDocument audit findings, provide clear feedback to Territory Managers and District Managers and recommend proportionate corrective actions.\nLoss Prevention & Investigations\nIdentify, investigate and recommend solutions to minimize operational and financial losses.\nGuide and support Territory Managers on general loss prevention and the resolution of loss-related issues.\nMonitor, investigate and follow up on non-compliant or unusual activity.\nConduct root-cause analysis and recommend practical control improvements to prevent recurrence.\nWetstock Governance & Reconciliation\nManage retail wetstock reconciliation processes, including the investigation and resolution of operational issues and inventory variances.\nCollaborate with Territory Managers, Operations, Finance and Wetstock team to address recurring issues and strengthen wetstock controls.\nIdentify trends and recommend preventative actions to reduce future losses.\nRetailer Risk Management\nProvide ad hoc advice and assurance support to the Operations team to minimize potential risk.\nMonitor and analyze transactional activities to identify trends, anomalies, and potential instances of fraud or misconduct.\nReporting, Insights & Business Support\nAnalyze audit, compliance and loss data to identify control trends and emerging risks.\nDistribute clear data and insights to Sales, Operations and Finance Management to support informed decision-making.\nProvide objective oversight through control reviews, investigations and assurance activities, identifying risks and recommending sustainable control improvements\nBuild effective working relationships and act as a trusted advisor to Territory Managers and cross-functional stakeholders.\nSuccess Profile\nDemonstrates integrity, independence and sound professional judgment.\nBalances governance requirements with practical business realities environments.\nundefined\nWhat you bring\nThe candidate must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis.\nBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline.\nMinimum three (3) years of relevant experience in audit, assurance, accounting, finance, risk management, loss prevention, retail operations or operational compliance.\nStrong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and influence without direct authority.\nAbility to independently plan and complete field-based work while managing multiple priorities.\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel and business reporting tools.\nPreferred:\nFinance or accounting background.\nCPA designation or near completion of the CPA program.\nExperience conducting audits, control assessments, investigations or compliance reviews.\nExperience with retail fuel operations, inventory reconciliation or wetstock management.\nTravel & Working Requirements\nRegular travel across Canada to complete site audits, investigations and assurance activities.\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel to retail locations, subject to Shell policies and applicable
