This position provides technical authority and people leadership across electrical, controls, automation, and integration projects, ensuring solutions are safe, reliable, compliant, and aligned with Shermco’s standards of excellence.\nThe Director will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams, drive consistency in design and delivery, support business development efforts, and partner closely with operations, project management, and field services to deliver high-quality systems integration solutions to Shermco’s customers.\nResponsibilities\nFinancial & Performance Management\nLead management of department P&L (Approx. $50M) through tracking of financials, percent completes and execution across all active projects.\nAssist division leadership with proactive P&L management including EBITDA, margin and headcount management. \nDevelop and manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and utilization targets.\nMonitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering quality, efficiency, safety, and profitability.\nIdentify opportunities to improve productivity, standardization, and cost effectiveness.\nLeadership & Strategy\nProvide strategic leadership for engineering and controls functions within the Systems Integration Group.\nEstablish and maintain engineering standards, best practices, and design methodologies across projects and offices.\nBuild, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering and controls teams, including succession planning and talent development.\nFoster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.\nEngineering & Technical Oversight\nServe as the technical authority for control systems architecture, electrical and controls design, and system integration solutions.\nOversee the development and review of control system designs, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, DCS interfaces, networking, and cybersecurity considerations.\nEnsure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, UL, and customer-specific requirements).\nSupport complex or high-risk projects through technical guidance, design reviews, and problem resolution.\nProject Execution & Operations Support\nPartner with project management and operations to ensure engineering deliverables support safe, on-time, and on-budget project execution.\nBalance engineering resources across multiple projects and priorities.\nSupport commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities as needed.\nDrive lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives based on project feedback and performance.\nBusiness Development & Client Engagement\nSupport sales and business development teams with technical input, project scoping, estimates, and proposals.\nEngage directly with customers to understand requirements, present solutions, and build long-term trusted relationships.\nRepresent Shermco as a technical leader in systems integration with customers, partners, and industry organizations.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s degree preferred).\n12+ years of progressive experience in engineering and controls, with significant experience in systems integration.\nDemonstrated experience in actively managing department level P&Ls of over $40M and financial expertise involving management of EBITDA, margins and revenues.\nProven leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams.\nStrong working knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networks, and automation platforms.\nExperience with low voltage (120V and similar)electrical power systems and integration in industrial or commercial environments.\nDemonstrated ability to lead complex, multidisciplinary projects.\nStrong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in electrical or control systems.\nExperience in industries such as utilities, power generation, renewables, oil & gas, manufacturing, or critical infrastructure.\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity standards for industrial control systems.\nExperience working within a service-based or EPC-adjacent organization.\nCore Competencies\nTechnical leadership and sound engineering judgment\nStrategic thinking and execution\nTeam development and mentorship\nCustomer focus and relationship management\nSafety and quality mindset\nCollaboration across disciplines and business unit\nEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE\nShermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
