All done with an emphasis on safety and client service.\nShermco is currently seeking a licensed Electrical Power Systems Engineer to support engineering projects across multiple industrial and utility clients. Reporting to the Regional Director of Engineering, this role is ideal for a motivated engineer with both field and design experience in power systems. The role is based in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid role; after the first couple of weeks, most of the work can be done remotely.\nResponsibilities\nLead and support the professional development of junior engineering staff\n· Manage, plan, and execute engineering projects for a broad range of clients and industries\n· Perform power systems analysis and design for industrial and utility sectors\n· Design and integrate protective relaying systems (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens, Schneider)\n· Develop substation automation systems (e.g., SEL RTAC, RTU, HMI, and communication protocols)\n· Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, grounding, and harmonic analysis\n· Prepare, review, and approve electrical drawing packages (e.g., SLDs, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams)\n· Design and upgrade distribution systems (e.g., MCCs, switchgear, relays, breakers, fuses, transformers)\n· Troubleshoot electrical systems and implement corrective solutions\n· Support field commissioning and maintenance activities as needed\n· Conduct on-site inspections and data collection\n· Prepare engineering proposals, cost estimates, and client deliverables\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution\nRegistered Professional Engineer in any US state with the ability to gain licensure in any other US state\nMinimum 5 years of experience in power systems engineering (design and field experience preferred)\nProficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite\nExperience with power system modeling software (EasyPower, SKM, or ETAP) \nExpereince with protective relays/protection and control/relay retrofit design\nKnowledge of microprocesser based relay systems is considered an assett\nStrong written and verbal communication skills in English\nValid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as required\nExperience with protective relay systems, including design and commissioning\nFamiliarity with performing arc flash, coordination, and power quality studies\nPreferred Attributes\n· Exceptional organizational and time management skills\n· Strong technical, analytical, and leadership abilities\n· A collaborative team player committed to client success and quality service\n· Proven ability to manage multiple projects and maintain attention to detail\n· Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening\n· Must pass a fit-for-duty physical exam, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in field conditions\n· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record\n· Willingness to travel periodically (domestic required; international a plus)\n· Flexibility to work overtime as needed\n\n#LI-KD1EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE\nShermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
