This role requires deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, automation scripting in Python and Bash, and containerization with Docker and Kubernetes. The Senior Cloud Engineer will lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective cloud-native solutions while establishing architectural standards and best practices.Role Description\nLead the design, deployment, and management of complex Azure-based cloud infrastructure with a focus on automation, scalability, reliability, and cost optimization.\n\nArchitect and develop reusable IaC modules and frameworks using Terraform.\n\nDesign and implement advanced automation solutions using Python and Bash for provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks.\n\nDevelop and maintain shell scripts for Linux system orchestration, configuration, and automation workflows.\n\nAdminister and optimize CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins and GitHub Actions, including writing and maintaining Groovy-based pipeline scripts, shared libraries, and GitHub Actions workflows.\n\nBuild and maintain Docker and Kubernetes-based container environments, including image creation, orchestration, and production-ready deployments.\n\nLead incident response efforts, perform advanced root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.\n\nTroubleshoot complex issues across diverse technology stacks, demonstrating adaptability when working with unfamiliar programming languages, frameworks, or paradigms.\n\nCollaborate with software and DevOps teams to translate functional requirements into secure, scalable cloud architectures and provide technical guidance.\n\nEstablish and enforce cloud security best practices, governance frameworks, and compliance standards.\n\nCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation including architectural diagrams, automation workflows, runbooks, and technical standards.\n\nMentor and provide technical leadership to junior cloud engineers and team members.\n\nEvaluate and recommend Azure service updates and emerging tools related to automation, IaC, and containerization.\n\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives for infrastructure efficiency, performance, and cost optimization.\n\nBehaviors and Competencies\nPresenting: Can effectively use visual aids, storytelling, and persuasive techniques to enhance presentations and engage audiences.\n\nResults Orientation: Can set strategic goals for the organization and lead multiple teams to achieve these goals, demonstrating a strong orientation towards results.\n\nDetail-Oriented: Can oversee multiple projects, maintaining a high level of detail orientation, identifying errors or inconsistencies in work, and ensuring accuracy across all tasks.\n\nOrganization: Can oversee complex projects with multiple moving parts, ensure team alignment with organizational systems, and adapt to changing priorities.\n\nTechnical Troubleshooting: Can take ownership of complex technical problems, collaborate with others to manage solutions, and drive results in problem resolution.\n\nCollaboration: Can take ownership of team initiatives, foster a collaborative environment, and ensure that all team members feel valued and heard.\n\nListening: Can synthesize information from various sources, anticipate needs, and provide insights that contribute to effective problem-solving.\n\nDocumentation: Can manage complex documentation projects, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and ensure documentation meets regulatory and organizational requirements.\n\n Skill Level Requirements\nExtensive knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platforms - Intermediate\n\nThe ability to understand and utilize cloud computing technologies, including virtualization, IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS delivery models, to implement and manage scalable cloud solutions - Intermediate\n\nThe ability to understand and manage various infrastructure components (firewalls, load balancers, hypervisors, storage, monitoring, security) and use orchestration tools to develop comprehensive technical solutions - Intermediate\n\nThe ability to design, implement, and support multi-tier applications and cloud-based architectures to meet organizational needs - Intermediate\n\nProficient in migrating workloads to the Public Cloud and managing them efficiently - Intermediate\n\n Other Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.\n\n5+ years of cloud infrastructure experience with expertise in:\nMicrosoft Azure, including advanced knowledge of compute (VMs, VM Scale Sets, App Services), storage (Blob, Files, Managed Disks), Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Azure networking (VNets, Subnets, NSGs, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall, Azure Front Door, Load Balancers, VPN/ExpressRoute, Private Endpoints, Private Link)\n\nDesigning and implementing Terraform modules, managing state, and building IaC pipelines at scale\n\nScripting in Python with demonstrated ability to build complex automation frameworks and integrations\n\nAdvanced Bash scripting and Linux system administration, including automation, orchestration, and performance tuning\n\nProduction experience administering Jenkins, creating declarative and scripted pipelines, and developing Groovy-based automation scripts.\n\nProduction experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or any cloud variant of Kubernetes), including orchestration, scaling, and troubleshooting containerized applications.\n\nDeep understanding of Azure IAM, RBAC, Azure Policy, network security, and cloud security principles.\n\nProven experience with Git, branching strategies, and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions.\n\nExperience leading technical initiatives and mentoring junior engineers.\n\nStrong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with ability to contribute to sprint planning, architecture decisions, and technical roadmaps.\n\nAbility to travel to SHI, Partner, and Customer Events\n\nWillingness to obtain one of the following certifications within first year of SHI employment required:\nAWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (preferred to have upon application)\n\nAzure Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (preferred to have upon application)\n\nAzure certifications (e.g., AZ-305, AZ-400) are strongly preferred.\n\nThe estimated annual pay range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
