Shield AI is an American defence technology company founded in 2015 that builds autonomy software and uncrewed aircraft for military missions. Its Hivemind autonomy stack lets aircraft fly, navigate and complete objectives without GPS, a remote pilot or a communications link, which matters in contested environments where those links are jammed. Headquartered in San Diego, California, the company fields the V-BAT vertical take-off aircraft with United States and allied forces, licenses Hivemind to other manufacturers and is developing the X-BAT jet for high-end missions.

Shield AI is hiring a Field Solutions Engineer, Hivemind based in London, United Kingdom to support technical sales, customer engagements, demonstrations, and capture activities for Hivemind, Shield AI’s autonomy solution for intelligent, mission-capable unmanned systems.

Hivemind enables autonomous operation across complex mission environments, allowing aircraft and other robotic systems to perceive, decide, coordinate, and execute with reduced operator burden. This role will serve as a customer-facing technical expert for Hivemind, helping defense and security customers understand how autonomy can solve operational problems, improve mission outcomes, and integrate into existing and future force structures.

This role will focus on supporting customer engagements across the EURAF region, including Europe, the United Kingdom, NATO, African defense and security markets, and allied partner nations. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with international defense, security, aerospace, government, or advanced technology customers and will understand how to navigate varied regional operational priorities, stakeholder dynamics, partner ecosystems, and acquisition environments.

The Field Solutions Engineer will translate customer mission needs, CONOPs, operational constraints, and platform integration considerations into credible, technically feasible Hivemind solution concepts. This includes supporting customer discovery, technical briefings, demonstrations, RFIs, RFPs, white papers, technical interchange meetings, and customer-specific solution development.

Success requires technical credibility, strong communication, product truth, regional awareness, and the ability to connect Hivemind’s autonomy capabilities to real customer missions across varied international operational environments.

What you'll do:

    • Serve as a customer-facing technical expert for Hivemind autonomy solutions across the EURAF region.
    • Support customer discovery, technical briefings, demonstrations, technical interchange meetings, and capture activities.
    • Translate customer mission needs, CONOPs, operational objectives, and integration constraints into credible Hivemind solution concepts.
    • Partner with Business Development and Capture teams to support RFIs, RFPs, proposals, white papers, demos, and customer-facing technical narratives.
    • Explain Hivemind autonomy capabilities, limitations, roadmap considerations, and integration requirements to technical, operational, commercial, and leadership audiences.
    • Develop and maintain technical sales assets, including capability briefs, demo scripts, solution templates, FAQs, technical white papers, and customer-specific briefing materials.
    • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Engagement, and Program teams to represent customer requirements, technical risks, roadmap gaps, and field feedback.
    • Help customers evaluate how autonomy can support operational effectiveness, mission planning, force modernization, and fielded mission outcomes.
    • Maintain strong product truth by ensuring customer-facing materials and discussions accurately reflect current capabilities, constraints, and roadmap timing.
    • Monitor relevant developments in autonomy, AI, unmanned systems, mission software, defense technology, and EURAF regional defense modernization priorities to inform customer conversations and product feedback.
    • Build trusted relationships with customer technical stakeholders, regional partners, and internal cross-functional partners.
    • Operate independently across complex international customer engagements while keeping internal stakeholders aligned and informed.
    • Support regional engagement strategies by tailoring technical messaging, demos, and solution concepts to EURAF customer missions, operating environments, and partnership models.

Preferred qualifications:

    • Direct experience supporting defense, security, aerospace, autonomy, robotics, or advanced technology customers in Europe, the United Kingdom, NATO, Africa, or allied international markets.
    • Familiarity with EURAF defense modernization priorities, operational environments, customer engagement norms, partner ecosystems, or acquisition processes.
    • Experience working with ministries of defense, armed forces, government stakeholders, defense primes, systems integrators, or strategic partners across the EURAF region.
    • Experience with autonomous aircraft, unmanned systems, robotic systems, AI-enabled mission systems, or defense software platforms.
    • Hands-on experience with Python, C++, Linux, APIs, SDKs, autonomy software, robotics middleware, or technical prototyping.
    • Familiarity with autonomy development workflows, mission planning, system integration, operational evaluation, or customer demonstration planning.
    • Experience supporting proposals, RFIs, RFPs, white papers, technical volumes, or complex capture activities.
    • Experience working across varied customer cultures, acquisition processes, operational concepts, and partner ecosystems.
    • Prior military, defense, aerospace, robotics, unmanned systems, or advanced software experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to create clear, reusable technical content that enables BD, customers, and internal stakeholders.

Why join Shield AI:

  • Help build the defining defence technology company of this century.
  • Work at the forefront of AI, autonomy, and next-generation defence systems.
  • Operate in a highly entrepreneurial and mission-driven environment.
  • Make a direct impact on international growth and strategic defence partnerships.
  • Collaborate with exceptional teams solving some of the world’s most complex operational challenges.
