You’ll be joining a diverse team of over 300 people who are always looking to deliver better outcomes for Australian businesses.\nAbout the Role\nThe Content & Communications Manager is responsible for turning Shift’s expertise and insights into clear, credible content for customers, brokers, partners, employees, and external stakeholders.\nThe role owns the editorial process from brief through to publication. This includes developing content plans, shaping narratives, writing and editing substantial communications, coordinating contributors, and managing the production of major content programs.\nA key focus is supporting Shift’s thought-leadership and corporate communications priorities, including the SME Economy Index, corporate reporting, executive communications, and strategic business announcements.\nThe role is suited to a strong writer and editor who can independently make sense of complex subject matter, identify the real story, and produce content that is useful, evidenced, and appropriate for its audience.\nDuties & Responsibilities\nOwn Shift’s editorial calendar, content pipeline, and review process.\n\nTranslate research and complex subject matter into clear, credible content.\n\nWrite and edit reports, articles, executive communications, presentations, website copy, and strategic announcements.\n\nManage the editorial delivery of the SME Economy Index and other flagship content programs.\n\nAdapt core content for employee, customer, broker, partner, media, and external audiences.\n\nCoordinate subject-matter experts and senior stakeholders from brief through approval.\n\nProvide publication-ready content to Internal Communications, Creative, Digital, and PR.\n\nMaintain editorial quality, factual accuracy, version control, and alignment with Shift’s messaging and tone of voice.\n\nSupport issues and crisis communications through research, drafting, and message development.\n\nSkills & Experience\nExceptional writing and editing skills.\n\nStrong editorial judgement and attention to detail.\n\nAbility to simplify complex information and identify the key message.\n\nStrong communication and stakeholder-management skills.\n\nHighly organised with strong project-management capability.\n\nConfident working with data, research, and source material.\n\nProficient in Microsoft 365.\n\nCurious, adaptable, and comfortable using AI tools.\n\n5+ years' experience in content, communications, journalism, marketing or a related role.\n\nStrong experience writing, editing, and producing content for diverse audiences.\n\nExperience delivering thought leadership, corporate communications, or large content projects.\n\nExperience managing stakeholders, competing priorities, and tight deadlines.\n\nExperience working with senior leaders and subject-matter experts.\n\nExperience in financial services, fintech, professional services, or a related industry is desirable.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.\n\nEquivalent professional experience in content, editorial, or corporate communications will also be considered. #LI-SA1\n\nKey benefits:\nCollaborative teams - a flat structure means everyone can learn from colleagues and senior leaders around the business.\n\nBe involved - come together with all of your colleagues every 100 days to share the product and technology roadmap and business strategy.\n\nFlexible working environment - we’re headquartered in North Sydney with state-based workplaces and offer a flexible work policy.\n\nFamily support - industry leading 26 weeks paid parental leave.\n\nPurpose built spaces within our office - designed for collaboration, brainstorming, socialising, and focused work.\n\nRange of benefits supporting your physical, psychological and financial wellbeing.
