We work hard together-and with our clients-to deliver high-quality projects that are on time, on budget and beyond expectations.\nSouthwest Division\nShimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego at the $200 million Groundwater Replenishment System in Orange County.\nResponsibilities\nThis role supports, oversees and coordinates engineering production activities for an operating unit. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative. Initiates and maintains contact with senior-level management within the company and is skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues. At this level, the individual will have demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with a multi- disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence. Demonstrates mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to:\nField Engineering & Project Execution\nProvide technical support to field crews, ensuring accurate interpretation of drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.\nOversee layout, surveying, and grade control to maintain project accuracy.\nHelp manage and implement construction methodologies and best practices in collaboration with the superintendent and project team.\nReports to and support superintendent in day-to-day tasks.\nManagement of subcontractors scopes to ensure compliance with project specifications.\nCoordination and interface with other stakeholders which includes inspectors, subcontractors and suppliers. \nManagement of assigned Force Account work.\nQuality Control & Safety Compliance\nConduct field inspections to ensure work meets Shimmick’s quality standards and project specifications.\nWork with the Quality Control/Project team to document and resolve non-conformances.\nAssist in safety audits and enforce compliance with OSHA and Shimmick safety policies.\nPromote a safety-first culture by proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.\nScheduling & Cost Management\nAssist in developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules.\nTrack material quantities, labor hours, and equipment utilization to support cost control efforts.\nIdentify and help resolve potential project delays or budget overruns.\nCommunication & Coordination\nWork closely with the Project Team which includes project manager, engineers, superintendent and foremen to facilitate smooth execution.\nPrepare and track RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, daily reports, and as-built documentation.\nParticipate in daily and weekly construction meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.\nServe as a liaison between the field and office, ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution.\nTechnology & Documentation\nUtilize construction management software such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Procore, Microsoft Office Packages, CMiC etc.\nMaintain organized field records and documentation for closeout and future reference.\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 10 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in heavy civil construction projects, preferably in excess of $50 million. \nWater / Wastewater treatment plant construction projects highly preferred.\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. \nThe salary range for this position is between $150,000- $190,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.\nShimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA.
