As project delivery models, regulatory frameworks, supply chains, and technology continue to evolve, our ability to stay flexible and agile in our construction approach is essential to our success.\nThe Construction Field Engineer will support field operations by providing engineering expertise, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.\nResponsibilities\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:\nDisplays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications. \nDisplays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work. \nIndependently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design. \nPerforms quantity surveys for tracking and reporting. \nMay provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.\nSupport daily field operations on heavy civil construction sites, including excavation, structural concrete, grading, and utility installation.\nAssist with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and work plans for field crews.\nPerform quantity take-offs and assist in tracking material usage and equipment needs on site.\nMonitor work for compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and project specifications.\nCoordinate with survey teams for layout, elevations, and as-built data collection.\nPrepare daily field reports, photo documentation, and work logs to support project tracking and billing.\nAssist with resolving field issues by working with superintendents, subcontractors, and design engineers.\nParticipate in job site safety meetings, audits, and ensure PPE and safety protocols are being followed.\nSupport preparation and tracking of RFIs, submittals, and minor change requests from the field.\nUse construction software and tools to report progress and support communication between field and office teams.\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education \nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrevious heavy civil construction experience.\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for a United States work authorization.\nThe salary range for this position is between $100,000-$110,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.\nShimmick offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and financial future.
