Over the past decade, Axia team has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project in Lake Elsinore, CA. We specialize in complex, large-scale systems requiring deep expertise in power distribution, instrumentation & controls, and integrated commissioning.\nResponsibilities\nTypical responsibilities and training will include but are not limited to the following:\nIndicative Pricing & Planning: Evaluating site conditions and project requirements to determine if a design can be built within the owner's budget and timeframe.\nCost Estimation & Budgeting: From indicative pricing to developing detailed budgets from conceptual designs and refining them as plans become more specific. Knowledge of efficient electrical design concepts to help clients make timely informed decisions to secure funding sources.\nScheduling: Creating and validating comprehensive timelines that include milestones for design, permitting, and long-lead material procurement. Help explain critical path so clients are informed about overall schedule constraints and work windows.\nBid Management: Identifying, prequalifying, and soliciting bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and adequate scope coverage. Experience in analyzing scopes of work and providing cost comparisons with recommendations.\nValue Engineering: Analyzing design elements to suggest cost-saving alternatives without sacrificing quality or performance.\nRisk Mitigation: Suggesting alternative electrical systems or materials that maintain quality while reducing costs or energy consumption. Understanding electrical code and suggesting material alternatives. Vendor management and submittal requirements.\nStakeholder Coordination: Drive coordination between architects, engineers, and clients to align all parties on the project scope and execution strategy \nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree in engineering or a related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.\nFamiliarity with scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and technical documentation.\nExperience reviewing electrical plans, specifications, and contract documents.\nProficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite of applications.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nFamiliarity with Accubid Anywhere, Live Count, or similar electrical estimating software is preferred.\nAbility to multitask and prioritize competing demands in deadline-driven environment. \nDemonstrated experience in electrical power, instrumentation/controls, schematics and control diagrams.\nMust demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects, and work with minimal supervision. \nExperience in hard-bid contract work as well as conceptual estimating. \nUnderstands construction means, methods, and sequences.\nExperience coordinating with engineering, estimating, operations, and field teams.\nExperience participating in site walks, constructability reviews, and pre-bid meetings.\nFamiliarity with Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore, or similar construction management platforms.\nExperience supporting procurement planning and long-lead equipment evaluations.\nFamiliarity with NEC requirements and electrical construction industry best practices.\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.\nThe salary range for this position is between $100,000 - $115,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.\nShimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA.
