In 2025 the Electrical Division rebranded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE\nAxia Electric, headquartered in Riverside, California, focuses on large public owners in several states, across water resources, water treatment, transportation and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $350 million North City Pure Water Facility in San Diego and the $235 million EVMWD Regional Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project in Lake Elsinore, CA.\nResponsibilities\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:\nManage assigned projects or project phases, including planning, execution, budget performance, schedule adherence, subcontractor coordination, and client communications to ensure successful project delivery.\n\nProactively identify project risks, issues, and opportunities; develop and implement effective mitigation strategies and corrective actions to maintain project objectives related to safety, cost, quality, and schedule.\n\nLead and coordinate internal and external project teams, ensuring alignment among engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and client stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nMonitor project performance, resource utilization, and financial results, providing accurate forecasting, reporting, and recommendations to project leadership.\n\nMentor Project Engineers and other junior team members while fostering a collaborative, high-performance project environment.\n\nSupport contract administration, change management, procurement activities, and client relationship management to achieve project and business objectives.\n\nMay directly supervise project engineers, project coordinators, and other project support personnel, while providing oversight and direction to multidisciplinary project teams.\n\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nBA/BS degree + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting heavy civil construction projects in the water/wastewater, mass transit, and power generation markets.\nExperience performing electrical engineering calculations, analyses, and technical studies.\nExperience reviewing electrical submittals, RFIs, construction documents, and commissioning activities.\nWorking knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment, including switchgear, transformers, panelboards, generators, UPS systems, and related infrastructure.\nAbility to interpret and review P&IDs, control schematics, electrical single-line diagrams, and system drawings for I&C, fire alarm, HVAC controls, and security systems.\nExperience with the construction, inspection, installation, and testing of electrical systems, including lighting, medium- and high-voltage equipment, grounding systems, and cable installation activities.\nKnowledge of current industry quality standards and quality control processes; previous Quality Control experience is a plus.\nDetailed knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E standards.\nAbility to interpret electrical single-line diagrams, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, raceway and cable tray drawings, and electrical support drawings.\nExperience using Accubid for quantity takeoffs, estimating, and bid preparation.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other construction-related software applications.\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization.\nThe salary range for this position is between $125,000 to $160,000 depending on experience and/or education.\nAxia Electric offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support your health, well-being, and financial future.
