Exact project location is to be determined, but opportunities exist in multiple cities in Southern California, including San Diego, Lake Elsinore, Long Beach and Arroyo Grande . What sets us apart is our ability to self-perform complex work - bringing greater control, efficiency, and quality to every project while creating lasting impact for the communities we serve.\nResponsibilities\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:\nPerforming assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria’s to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.\nExercising judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives\nPreparing engineering related calculations and developing drawings and visual aids\nAssisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used\nAssisting with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans\nWorking under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member\nResearching and compiling project information for reporting, marketing, and funding requests\nCreating and maintaining centralized files for project records (including digital)\nCoordinating logistics and meetings for project managers\nAttending and taking minutes for the development team as requested\nHelping in the preparation of reports, including monthly development reports\nAssisting with community outreach duties as needed\nAttending neighborhood, community, and project meetings\nUndertaking tasks as may be assigned by project managers\nHaving a clear understanding of the budget and assist in the creation of and adherence to project and development budgets\nQualifications\nMinimum Qualifications:\nCandidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship.\nMust have completed at least 1 year of study.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCapable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software\nBasic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)\nKnowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite\nstrong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail\nAbility to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders\nWork independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks\nHighly organized with excellent time management skills\nExcellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for United States Work Authorization.\nThe salary range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00 per hour depending on experience and/or education.\nA housing stipend is available to those who qualify.\nNOTICE TO THIRD PARTY AGENCIES:\nPlease note that Shimmick does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or employment agencies.
