The Safety Manager supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s Safety & Health Program across heavy civil construction projects. As project delivery models, regulatory frameworks, supply chains, and technology continue to evolve, our ability to stay flexible and agile in our project management approach is essential to our success.\nResponsibilities\nThe responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:\nUnder limited supervision, responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements. \nMaintains current knowledge of specific government agency requirements. \nExhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of their environmental specialty.\nIndependently determines and develops approaches to solutions. \nDevelops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures. \nMonitors and prevents hazards and diseases in the work area.\nInvestigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace. \nRecommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards. \nDevelops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. \nProvides regulatory interpretation and technical advice. \nMay act as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel. \nMay administer an ES&H program on a small or medium-sized project.\nQualifications\nMinimum Requirements:\nBachelor’s Degree + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.\nMust be able to maintain 3 points of contact when climbing a ladder.\nMust have a valid driver's license.\nPreferred Qualifications:\n10+ years of relevant experience in Heavy Civil construction.\nKnowledge of Cal/OSHA Mining and Tunneling regulations and their application to construction safety programs.\nCompetent Person Certifications ie: Confined/Enclosed Space, Fall Protection, Trenching & Excavation.\nNFPA 70E Training Certificate\nEnvirnmental Stormwater safety\nOSHA 30, 500, 510 Certifications\nCHST Certification.\nSTSC Certification.\nAdditional Information:\nQualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.\nThis position does not include sponsorship for a United States work authorization.\nThe salary range for this position is between $125,000-$150,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.\nShimmick's comprehensive benefits plan includes medical, dental and vision coverage; as well as options to participate in an FSA or HSA.
