Each team member plays an active part in shaping the success of our brands by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and excellence in execution. \nABOUT THE ROLE\nThe Controller is responsible for leading all financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, period-end close activities, tax-related and audit interactions across multiple subsidiaries under the Bedrock Manufacturing platform (including Shinola and Filson).\nThis role directly oversees the Accounting Manager and their team, the AP/AR Manager and specialists, the Cost Accountant, and partners with an external group for Tax. The Controller will collaborate closely with the CFO and with other senior leaders across both brands to ensure accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment of all financial operations.\nWe are seeking a high-integrity, high-energy leader with strong technical accounting expertise and a passion for developing teams. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, solutions-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and challenges the status quo to drive continuous improvement.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nFinancial Leadership & Reporting\nPrepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and provide actionable insights to guide business decisions.\nManage all day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), Payroll, and month-end/year-end close processes.\nCommunicate financial results and performance trends to leadership teams.\nInternal Controls & Compliance\nEstablish, monitor, and improve internal financial controls to minimize risk and ensure GAAP compliance.\nPartner with Bedrock Manufacturing Corporation to document, enhance, and standardize processes and approval workflows.\nEnsure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards.\nAudit, Tax & Treasury\nServe as the primary liaison for external auditors; oversee audit planning, execution, and completion.\nCoordinate tax filings through external providers and ensure all compliance deliverables are met.\nPrepare monthly collateral and loan compliance reporting to financial institutions.\nBudgeting & Forecasting\nSupport the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections in alignment with strategic goals.\nPartner with the CFO and Director of Finance on working capital management, financial analysis, and KPI tracking.\nOperational Excellence\nCollaborate with brand leadership on inventory management, cost accounting, and operational KPIs.\nDrive process improvements and scalability initiatives, targeting a five-day financial close.\nFoster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance team.\nLeadership & Development\nLead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance professionals across multiple entities.\nBuild a culture of integrity, transparency, and professional growth.\n QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; master’s degree or CPA strongly preferred.\n8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.\nStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, tax planning, and internal controls.\nDemonstrated experience managing finance and accounting teams in a multi-entity or manufacturing environment.\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, NetSuite preferred.\nExperience with Shopify, 3PL, DataLake, Azure, or Power BI a plus.\nProven success operating in consumer products, retail, or omni-channel businesses.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and partner cross-functionally.\nIntegrity, honesty, and a high ethical standard are essential.\nSelf-starter with a continuous improvement mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and drive to achieve results.\nNote: This job description is not meant to be all-inclusive.
