Role Overview

As a Software Architect, you will play a pivotal role at the intersection of engineering excellence, product thinking, and technical strategy. You’ll be responsible for designing scalable systems, guiding architectural decisions, collaborating deeply with product and business stakeholders, and mentoring the engineering team while remaining hands-on with code.

What You’ll Be Doing

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• • Own and drive the overall system architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Design and review end-to-end solutions across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers.
  • Make informed technology and framework decisions, keeping long-term maintainability and growth in mind.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and design principles.

Hands-on Development

• • Remain actively involved in coding, code reviews, and complex problem-solving.
  • Build and scale critical product features that directly impact customers.
  • Ensure the codebase remains clean, modular, testable, and future-ready.

DevOps & Platform Ownership

• • Drive DevOps best practices across the engineering lifecycle, from development to deployment.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure fast, reliable, and automated releases.
  • Collaborate on cloud infrastructure architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee deployment strategies, monitoring, logging, and alerting to maintain high system reliability.
  • Champion infrastructure-as-code practices and automation wherever possible.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to improve system observability, performance, and uptime.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and disaster recovery considerations are built into system design.

Product & Project Collaboration

• • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Leadership to shape product vision and technical feasibility.
  • Translate product requirements into well-structured technical plans, milestones, and execution strategies.
  • Balance speed and quality while making trade-offs aligned with business priorities.
  • Act as a bridge between business objectives and engineering execution.

Mentorship & Team Growth

• • Mentor and guide engineers across levels, fostering ownership and accountability.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and growth of a high-performing engineering team.
  • Encourage a culture of learning, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Strategy & Long-Term Vision

• • Define and evolve the technical roadmap aligned with Shipthis’s product and business goals.
  • Anticipate scaling challenges and proactively design solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance to the product.

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6-10 years of experience in software development, with strong exposure to system design and architecture.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues across application and infrastructure layers.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalents).
• Proven experience working on product-led, scalable software systems.
• Strong hands-on expertise in full-stack development with proficiency in JavaScript and modern frameworks such as Angular (28+), React, or similar. Solid understanding of web technologies, including TypeScript, Python with FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, databases, and performance optimization.
• Experience collaborating with product and business stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
