The custom nature of their system solutions and the engineered-to-order development cycle for solar projects typically gives Shoals a 12+ month lead time to quote, engineer, produce, and ship each order, so there is no need to stock large amounts of finished goods.\nSummary:\nThis role will focus on contributing to the world class design and development of power distribution systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and associated components focusing on economy, safety, reliability, quality and sustainability.\nYou will collaborate with a diverse group who are committed to only the highest quality solutions. We are a collaborative team, and this means you’re empowered and have the opportunity to influence all aspects of the design and know that each contribution you make is significant.\nEssential Tasks and Responsibilities:\nPerform electrical engineering design calculations as it pertains to photovoltaic systems and BESS power distribution.\nDesign, develop, review, update, modify, and approve electrical designs, schematics, wire harnesses as per design specifications.\nPerform complex power analysis of low voltage and medium voltage AC and DC power distribution systems.\nWrite system integration and testing procedures based on user defined functional requirements.\nPerform and support ongoing testing and updating of prototype electrical systems and subsystems.\nProvide product cost analysis for quoting new product.\nSupport other engineers with design review and technical oversight.\nInitiate continuous improvement projects\nQualifications\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/Other:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or minimum 3 years in solar experience\nExcellent knowledge of applicable codes such as NEC, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA and IEEE standards for the renewables and energy storage industry\nEffective written and oral communication skills.\nAbility to use personal computer software such as Office 365 suite.\nExtensive experience working with Schematic Capture software such as Altium, P-CAD, PADS and others\nPractical experience with CAD software such as Solidworks and AutoCAD\nAbility to solve difficult challenges with little direction/supervision\nUnderstanding of AC (both single and three phase) and DC power systems.\nHave a strong fundamental knowledge in renewable and off-grid power systems design and analysis.\nExperience performing arc flash analysis surveys and coordinating studies\nAbility to travel infrequently, as needed\nShoals Technologies Group, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
