This role will work on architecture and design work as well as interacting with other engineering disciplines within Shure.\nThis role will be hybrid based out of our Niles, IL office.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop and test embedded software and associated components that are part of a software and hardware system for audio products.\nDevelopment can consist of hardware drivers, embedded software applications, audio and control networking and networking protocols and related areas using C++ and C as the primary programming languages.\nWork as part of a cross-functional development team on product architecture as well as the software design implementation cutting edge audio products and technologies\nEstimate, organize, and document tasks\nPractice established software development methodologies and principles focusing on software architecture and design.\nModel designs using UML or similar methodologies as appropriate; develop use cases to model real-time systems behavior\nReview the design and code developed by peer engineers. Engage in unit, integration and testing of software components and systems.\nOther duties as assigned\nQualifications\nBS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Electrical Engineering; MS a plus\n5 or more years of requisite experience\nDemonstrated skills in C++ and/or C with object oriented design, analysis and programming.\nExperience using and designing software with networking protocols - Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP as well as Wifi and other wireless protocols as well as exposure to network security and protocols a plus.\nUnderstanding of operating system concepts, embedded software development environment and tools for real-time embedded operating systems (RTOS), such as Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS or VxWorks.\nExperience with embedded system architectures, development environments and debugging.\nHardware Driver development and hardware debugging exposure a plus\nExperience with software version control and release\nDemonstrated attention to detail and ability to analyze complex interdependent variables\nDemonstrated verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to work effectively within a team environment\nQuality consciousness\nApplicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Base salaries vary based on qualifications, geography, experience, and expertise in each respective discipline. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base salary for the opportunity. The base salary for this position ranges from $115,600 to $185,000, with a midpoint target. If your salary expectations do not align, still apply as we are often flexible on the seniority of posted positions.
