As the Business Development Manager for Process Automation, you are responsible for accelerating revenue growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding Siemens' market presence across Malaysia's process industries.
Operating as an individual contributor, this role combines strong commercial acumen with credible knowledge of process automation, industrial software, and digitalization solutions. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will translate customer challenges and technical capabilities into measurable business value. Success in this highly visible role will be measured through order growth, market penetration, pipeline development, customer acquisition, and achievement of assigned sales targets.
You’ll make a difference in:
- Sales Targets & Growth Strategy: Own and deliver assigned order intake, revenue, growth, and profitability targets for the Process Automation portfolio in Malaysia by developing and executing account and market growth strategies across priority industries and customer segments.
- Opportunity Pipeline & Acquisition: Proactively identify, qualify, and create opportunities through customer engagement, market intelligence, and relationship development, building and maintaining a healthy pipeline from early engagement through proposal, negotiation, and contract award while expanding existing accounts and acquiring new customers.
- Deal Management & Win Strategies: Develop competitive win strategies and coordinate internal resources to improve win probability, leading customer-facing commercial discussions and supporting negotiations with Account Managers and relevant business teams.
- Specification Influence & Lifecycle Conversion: Influencing customer specifications and investment strategies through early engagement and value-based positioning, while identifying and converting modernization, migration, upgrade, replacement, and lifecycle opportunities in established facilities.
- Portfolio Positioning & Stakeholder Relations: Positioning Siemens' Process Automation, DCS, industrial software, and digitalization portfolio based on customer operational needs, building trusted relationships with plant, operations, engineering, consultant, EPC, system-integrator, and executive stakeholders.
- Market Intelligence & Roadmapping: Engaging customers operating complex, multi-vendor automation environments to develop credible modernization roadmaps while monitoring market trends, investment plans, industry developments, and the competitive landscape.
- Sales Enablement & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Enable Account Managers with portfolio insights and sales narratives, collaborate with Technical and Service teams to build competitive solutions, provide market feedback, and ensure effective handover to delivery teams to support retention and satisfaction.
Your success is grounded in:
- Project Procurement Leadership: You bring 15+ years of international project procurement experience spanning both tender and execution phases within complex project environments.
- Regional Supplier Expertise: You possess 10+ years of sourcing and supplier management experience across Southeast Asia and China, with a strong understanding of international procurement and contract management.
- Commodity & Category Management Experience: You have at least 5 years of experience managing categories or commodities, ideally involving eHouses, modular structures or electrical infrastructure solutions.
- Electrical & Technical Acumen: You demonstrate strong knowledge of complex technical products, including modular electrical buildings (eHouses), Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) systems, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, and related site installations.
- Commercial & Negotiation Strength: You have proven success in supplier negotiations, contract management, total cost analysis, and strategic sourcing decisions.
- Stakeholder Management & Communication Skills: You are an effective communicator and presenter, capable of influencing stakeholders across procurement, engineering, sales, and project organizations.
- Adaptability & Global Mindset: You thrive in a fast-paced international environment and are willing to travel across APAC and occasionally to Europe or India to support supplier development and project objectives.
