We’re making the lives of people who travel easier and more enjoyable while constantly developing new, intelligent mobility solutions!\nWe are looking forCommodity Buyer\nYou’ll make a difference by\nThe Commodity Buyer is responsible for end-to-end procurement and cost management for rolling stock and mobility projects, supporting bid, execution, and localization activities.\nThe role ensures cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and margin improvement by driving strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, project management, quality, and manufacturing.\nYou’ll make a difference by\nLead project-specific procurement activities from bid phase through project execution and closure.\nDevelop and execute procurement strategies aligned with project timelines, cost targets, and risk profiles.\nEnsure timely sourcing of direct materials, systems, and components in line with project milestones.\nMonitor procurement performance and proactively mitigate supply, cost, and delivery risk\nCosting, Bid & Margin Management: Own cost build-ups and commercial inputs for bids and tenders in coordination with bid management and engineering teams.\nPerform detailed cost analysis, should-costing, and benchmarking to support competitive and winning bid structures.\nIdentify and implement cost reduction and margin improvement initiatives across projects.\nSupport negotiations during customer clarifications and commercial discussions.\nStrategic Sourcing & Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and onboard strategic suppliers aligned with Siemens quality, compliance, and sustainability standards.\nDrive supplier negotiations on price, lead time, payment terms, and contractual conditions.\nManage supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery) and implement corrective actions where required.\nDevelop long-term supplier partnerships to support future project pipeline and volume growth.\nLocalization & Supplier Development: Drive localization initiatives to meet cost, regulatory, and customer requirements.\nPerform supplier capacity mapping, capability assessment, and development planning.\nSupport dual sourcing and alternate supplier strategies to reduce dependency and risk.\nCollaborate with quality and engineering teams for localization qualification and approvals.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Logistics teams.\nEnsure alignment between technical specifications, commercial objectives, and supply capabilities.\nAct as the procurement interface for internal and external stakeholders.\nCompliance & Governance: Ensure full compliance with Siemens procurement processes, ethics, and governance standards.\nMaintain accurate documentation for sourcing decisions, contracts, and audits.\nSupport internal and external audits related to procurement activities.\nDesired Skills:\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field\nPostgraduate qualification in Supply Chain / Operations / Management is an advantage\n8-12 years of experience in project procurement, sourcing, or supply chain, preferably in: \nPreferable experience in - Rolling Stock / Rail, Heavy Engineering / Capital Projects, Mobility or Transportation sectors\nStrong exposure to bid management, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations\nExperience working in matrix organizations and global stakeholders\nProject Procurement & Strategic Sourcing, Costing, Should-Costing & Commercial Analysis\nSupplier Negotiation & Contracting\nLocalization & Supplier Development, Risk Management & Capacity Planning\nSAP / ERP systems (MM module preferred)\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nAbility to work under tight deadlines and multiple priorities\nExcellent stakeholder communication and coordination\nResults-driven with a cost and margin mindset\nHigh level of ownership and accountability\nDirect impact on project profitability and bid success and enables localization and cost competitiveness in key markets\nEnsures supply continuity and risk mitigation for complex rolling stock projects and acts as a bridge between commercial strategy and execution.\nJoin us and be yourself!\nWe value your unique identity and perspective and are fully committed to providing equitable opportunities and building a workplace that reflects the diversity of society.
