This role supports systems engineering, aero-thermal loop analysis, SAS, or heat transfer for large gas turbines. The successful candidate will contribute in one of these disciplines by developing advanced software tools and methodologies-leveraging conventional or AI/ML-based technologies-to support turbomachinery design and optimization.\nHow You’ll Make an Impact\nDevelop and maintain engineering analysis tools or design software for a selected gas turbine discipline, component, or system. \nCreate or integrate system models, surrogate models, digital twins, reduced-order models or tools in the candidate’s area of expertise. \nSupport multi-disciplinary design processes through expertise in systems engineering, aero-thermal loops, secondary-air systems, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, or mechanical integrity. \nApply AI/ML techniques and Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline engineering workflows and enhance modeling and predictive capabilities. \nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define interfaces, validate models, and ensure tool usability and accuracy. \nDocument engineering methods and software tools and provide training and support to engineering teams. \nWhat You Bring\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or a related field.\n3+ years of experience (or PhD) in gas turbines, aero engines, turbomachinery, propulsion systems, rotating equipment, or advanced thermal-fluid engineering applications.\nStrong foundation in one or more of the following:Gas turbine systems\nAero-thermal analysis\nSecondary-air systems (SAS)\nHeat transfer\nCooling systems\nThermodynamics\nConjugate heat transfer (CHT)\nThermal management systems\n\nProgramming experience in Python and one or more engineering software development environments such as MATLAB, Fortran, Bash, C, C++, or Linux.\nApplicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.\n Export Control Requirement (ECC): Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with CFD, CHT, FEA, flow-network, performance modeling, or multi-physics simulation tools (ANSYS Fluent, CFX, STAR-CCM+, Simcenter, or similar).\nExperience with GitLab, software version control, CI/CD, and collaborative software development practices.\nExperience developing digital twins, model-based engineering solutions, simulation automation, or engineering analytics platforms.\nKnowledge of AI/ML applications in engineering simulations and design optimization.\nExperience with cloud computing environments (Azure, AWS) and high-performance computing (HPC).\nFamiliarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), verification and validation methodologies, and digital engineering practices.\nAbout the Team\nOur Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization.
