This role will contribute to the design, development, verification, and maintenance of software used in regulated Point of Care diagnostic products and the tooling to support it.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with software, systems, quality and product security teams to deliver high-quality solutions that improve patient care while meeting regulatory, security and quality requirements.\nWe are seeking a strong software engineer with modern development skills, a passion for automation, and a demonstrated ability to leverage AI to improve engineering productivity and software quality.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, maintain, and enhance software applications and platform components.\nParticipate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, release, and support.\nDevelop software using one or more modern technology stacks, such as Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, or TypeScript/React.\nCreate and maintain automated unit, integration, system, and regression test solutions.\nDevelop scripts and automation that improve software builds, testing, deployment, engineering workflows, and development efficiency.\nSupport development and test environments used for medical device software integration, verification, stability and performance testing.\nWork within a regulated medical device environment and support software quality, cybersecurity and risk management activities.\nCollaborate across global engineering teams including software development, systems engineering, verification, product security, and quality.\nInvestigate software defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.\nParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design activities.\nContribute to reusable software initiatives across multiple products.\nAI-Driven Software Engineering\nAI-enabled development is a core expectation for this role. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to leverage modern AI technologies to improve software quality, engineering productivity, and development velocity.\nThis includes:\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar technologies.\nUnderstanding of prompt engineering, basic agentic AI workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI-assisted software engineering practices.\nApplying AI to code generation, test automation, code review, debugging, documentation, root cause analysis and software verification activities.\nIdentifying opportunities to improve development efficiency and quality through AI-driven automation.\nAbility to exercise engineering experience and apply appropriate human oversight when using AI-generated outputs in a regulated environment.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.\n3-6 years of software development experience.\nStrong proficiency in at least one modern software development stack, such as Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, or TypeScript/React, with the ability to learn and work across related technologies as needed.\nExperience developing software for Android, web, and/or Windows-based applications.\nExperience developing automated tests and utilizing test automation frameworks.\nExperience with source control systems, build automation, and CI/CD pipelines.\nExperience with scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting, PowerShell, or Groovy.\nStrong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMedical device software development experience.\nKnowledge of IEC 62304 software lifecycle processes.\nExperience with software verification and validation activities.\nFamiliarity with cybersecurity and secure software development practices.\nWorking knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems and software development environments.\nExperience with cloud-native technologies, APIs, and modern software architectures.\nExperience applying AI technologies to real-world software engineering workflows.\nExperience developing automated test frameworks and test infrastructure.\nWho we are: We are a team of more than 72,000 highly dedicated Healthineers in more than 70 countries.
