These capabilities enable engineers across industries to model complex physical phenomena including turbomachinery, external aerodynamics, internal flows, heat transfer, combustion, and other thermo-fluid applications.\nAs a CFD Software Engineer, you will work at the intersection of CFD physics, numerical methods, software engineering, and high-performance computing. You will design and implement new solver capabilities, improve existing algorithms, and help ensure that our solvers are accurate, robust, computationally efficient, and scalable on modern parallel computing architectures.\nThis role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving challenging numerical and computational problems and translating advanced CFD methods into production-quality software.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop core CFD solver capabilities: Design and implement numerical methods and solver components for Simcenter STAR-CCM+, contributing to the development of accurate, robust, and efficient thermo-fluid simulation capabilities.\nSolve complex numerical problems: Apply strong knowledge of CFD and numerical methods to address challenging problems involving the Navier-Stokes equations, aerodynamic and hydrodynamic flows, and complex physical phenomena.\nDevelop high-performance software: Design and optimize CFD algorithms for highly parallel computing environments, with a focus on performance, scalability, memory efficiency, and heterogeneous architectures including GPUs.\nInnovate and enhance solver technology: Contribute to the conception, design, and implementation of new solver capabilities driven by product requirements, customer needs, and strategic technology initiatives.\nImprove existing capabilities: Investigate and resolve defects, refactor and modernize existing code, improve numerical robustness and performance, and maintain the quality of established solver functionality.\nApply modern software engineering practices: Develop maintainable C++ software using appropriate object-oriented design principles, design patterns, testing practices, and coding standards.\nCollaborate and provide technical leadership: Participate in design discussions and code reviews, share technical knowledge, and collaborate with other CFD and software engineers to drive innovation and continuously improve solver technology.\n\nQualifications\nMaster’s or PhD degree in Engineering, Computational Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, preferably with a strong focus on CFD, numerical methods, or high-performance scientific computing.\n2+ years of commercial CFD software development experience, or approximately 5+ years of relevant non-commercial/research CFD software development experience.\nStrong understanding and practical experience implementing numerical methods for solving the Navier-Stokes equations and related CFD problems.\nStrong knowledge of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic CFD, with the ability to translate numerical and physical concepts into robust computational solutions.\nStrong hands-on expertise in modern C++ and object-oriented software development, with experience applying software design principles and patterns to complex applications.\nExperience developing or optimizing high-performance and highly parallel CFD algorithms, including experience with heterogeneous computing architectures such as GPUs/GPGPUs.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving ability, with experience developing complex scientific software and working effectively within collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering teams.\n\nPreferred Experience\nExpertise in one or more physical domains such as thermodynamics, heat transfer, multiphase flow, or combustion.\nExperience applying CFD methods to vehicle/external aerodynamics, internal combustion engines, turbomachinery, or similar industrial applications.\nExperience with GPU programming, heterogeneous computing, or parallel programming.\nExperience with Java or other programming languages used in large-scale scientific software.\nExperience with source-control systems and modern collaborative development practices.\nExperience participating in design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and multi-team software development.\nExperience working with large-scale, client-server, or distributed scientific computing platforms.\n\nWhy Us\nAt Siemens Software, flexibility is how we work - hybrid by default, built on trust and autonomy.
