The candidate will perform validation of the developed methodologies and simulation strategies using finite element and boundary element analysis (FEA/BEA) tools. The role includes vibro-acoustic modeling, fluid-structure interaction studies, and analysis of acoustic performance metrics such as transmission loss and near-field acoustic prediction using concepts related to panel directivity and acoustic radiation behavior. The position offers hands-on experience in structural dynamics, vibro-acoustics, numerical simulation, and engineering software development.\nThe candidate will collaborate closely on research and development activities involving finite element modeling, dynamic response analysis, and the validation of new simulation and modeling approaches.\nKey Responsibilities:\nStructural Dynamics & Simulation Focus\nDevelop and evaluate modeling strategies for structural dynamics applications with relevance to Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA).\nBuild, modify, and analyze finite element models using commercial solvers such as Nastran or OptiStruct.\nCreate and refine pre-processing and meshing workflows using tools such as Femap or HyperMesh.\nPerform dynamic analyses including modal, frequency response, and vibro-acoustic simulations.\nValidate developed methodologies through finite element and boundary element simulations and comparison of numerical results.\nSupport the automation of simulation workflows and data processing using programming and scripting tools.\nCollaborate on the development of custom simulation utilities and computational tools using languages such as Python, C++, FORTRAN, or Compose.\nDocument methodologies, simulation procedures, and technical findings clearly and professionally.\nRequirements:\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Engineering Physics, or a related field. Open to undergraduate and graduate students. \nComfortable working in a fully remote environment in the US. \nStrong background in structural dynamics, vibrations, or statistical Energy Analysis.\nFamiliarity with finite element simulation workflows and CAE tools such as:\nNastran\nOptiStruct\nSimcenter Femap\nHyperMesh\nor similar software\nUnderstanding of modal analysis, dynamic response analysis, vibro-acoustic simulation concepts, and fluid-structure interaction fundamentals.\nProgramming experience in one or more of the following languages:\nPython\nC++\nFORTRAN\nCompose\nMATLAB or similar scripting environments\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a research and development environment.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExposure to Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) or vibro-acoustic analysis methods.\nExperience interpreting and validating structural dynamic and vibro-acoustic simulation results.\nExperience with programming, scripting and simulation automation.\nYou’ll Benefit FromThe hourly pay range for this position $18 - $50 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
