Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).\nThis position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center.\nResponsibilities\nThe successful candidate will join the Electrical Engineering team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. Depending on the candidate’s experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised\nResponsibilities:\nProvides design support to projects including concept/assembly layout based on routine design computations and leader services for design/drafting projects of moderate scope and complexity.\nPlans drafting work to be accomplished in support of specific projects; prepares drawing lists and coordinates job with engineers, detailers, and checkers.\nPrepares design concepts/layouts; independently performs basic engineering analysis and research to size and select equipment and materials.\nPerforms complex drafting assignments with general instructions and working from furnished or self-generated computations and sketches.\nPerforms drawing checks to confirm accuracy and acceptability guided by the company and/or client drafting standards/specifications, engineering computations, and sketches.\nEvaluates the functional feasibility of design and its conference to specifications.\nPrepares sketches to be drawn by others, helps maintain drafting standards, and assists in training of new or less experienced drafting personnel.\nQualifications\nU.S. Citizenship is required.\nTwo (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or other related engineering courses is preferred, plus four (4) years of related engineering experience with some expertise in formulating data for presentation. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.\nMust be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids. Should be able to use computing technology for problem analysis and solutions.\nPerform electrical power/controls design assignments and work from the designs of others.\nCompile data, perform elementary design computations, prepare estimates (design and construction), prepare designs in electrical facilities and utilities power distribution, lighting, fire alarm system, telephone and communication plans, controls schematics and interconnection diagrams, wiring diagrams, consult manufacturers, evaluate materials, write/edit specifications, provide professional electrical power /controls engineering support within allocated task resources, and work under supervision.\nAutoCAD experience in release 2024 or better and REVIT experience in release 2024 is required.\nKnowledge of the National Electrical Code is preferred.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nWork Environment\nOffice Environment. (90%)\nTest/lndustrial Environment - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Travel between facilities and test sites is required. (10%)\nPhysical Requirements:\nMust have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions (20%). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
