The role conducts advanced research, analyzes data, and develops strategies to influence public policy and legislative action. The manager brings extensive experience in government operations, policy analysis, and public affairs. The role focuses on the U.S. Federal budget process and on legislative activity related to the Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA. The manager also represents Sierra Space at industry events, in government meetings, and with customer audiences. In that capacity, the manager acts as a credible, knowledgeable voice for the company with external stakeholders.The Legislative Affairs Manager conducts advanced research on the legislative, regulatory, and policy issues that affect the organization. The manager monitors and analyzes federal government activity, including legislation, regulations, and budget processes, with particular attention to DoD and NASA programs. The manager tracks and reports on key legislative and regulatory developments. The manager also prepares detailed reports, briefs, and presentations that give the Government Relations team clear, actionable insight. Building on this analysis, the manager develops and implements advocacy strategies and campaigns. The manager keeps current knowledge of how decision-making authority is structured within legislative and National Security organizations. This knowledge helps the team direct its efforts to the right people and offices.\nThis role represents Sierra Space at industry events, government meetings, and customer engagements. The manager supports the company's work with government officials, agencies, and other stakeholders. Internally, the manager handles multiple tasks and competing deadlines and delivers assignments on time. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nRequires a Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +3 years of experience).\nTypically 5+ years of related experience, including time as staff on Capitol Hill or within U.S. government agencies and/or National Security organizations.\nDemonstrated experience analyzing and influencing the U.S. federal budgeting process.\nAbility to represent Sierra Space externally at industry events, government meetings, and/or with customer audiences.\nStrong project and process management skills.\nAbility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.\nExcellent communication and organizational skills.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nPrevious work experience in government relations, public policy, or a related field.\nFamiliarity with legislative tracking tools and databases.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nExperience in the aerospace and defense industry.\nKnowledge of key issues and trends in aerospace and defense policy.\nUnderstanding of the procurement processes and funding mechanisms within DoD and NASA.\nExperience with advocacy and lobbying efforts related to aerospace and defense.\nProficiency in using data analysis tools and software relevant to government relations.\nCompensation:\nPay Range:\n$101,680.00 - $139,810.00Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.\nElevate Your Career\nAt Sierra Space, we are committed to your personal and professional development.
