You'll architect the stack, write clean code, and work with your teammates to ship great products you're proud of. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to take products from idea to production. As an early employee at a startup, you'll also be part of creating our culture!\nHere's a taste of what you could do at Sierra!\nClient projects: Work with a startup founder to build the MVP of their idea\n\nInternal projects: Build an internal AI tool to transform our own workflows\n\nHiring: Help us grow our team and interview future candidates\n\nLeadership: Mentor other engineers to level up our team\n\nWho We're Looking For\nOur ideal candidate is a generalist software engineer who loves to learn new things fast! We care about the ability to learn quickly and lead projects from idea to production more than any specific skills.\nIf you're excited about this role but don't check every box, we'd love to see your application anyway.\nMust-haves:\n5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, including leading projects or people - formally or informally (tech lead, mentoring, owning a project end-to-end)\n\nExperience with end-to-end product development, from idea to production\n\nGrowth mindset: able to quickly learn new languages, frameworks, and more\n\nComfortable communicating in English, written and verbal (our clients are US-based)\n\nFrontend experience: TypeScript, React\n\nBackend experience: TypeScript or Python, Node.js or FastAPI\n\nExperience with databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc)\n\nAbility to accurately estimate timelines and scope\n\nBonus - nice to have:\nExperience using AI tools for coding (e.g. Cursor)\n\nExperience building products using Generative AI / LLMs (e.g. using OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, prompt engineering, RAG, etc)\n\nThings you've built that you'd like to show us - work projects, open source, or side projects all count!\n\nHow We Work\nFully remote, with flexible hours - we care about output, not hours online.
