Tax Associate - Contract

$55-$65/Hour | Corporate Tax | Multi-State Compliance & Reporting | 4 month assignment

Are you an experienced tax professional looking for a high-impact contract opportunity? We're seeking a Tax Associate to support critical tax compliance, reporting, and advisory functions for a large, multi-entity organization operating across the United States. This is a short-term contract to cover our tax manager while they are on leave.

In this role, you'll work closely with tax leadership, finance teams, and external auditors while helping ensure compliance across federal, state, and local tax requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on tax professional who enjoys complex tax work, collaborating across departments, and contributing to a growing organization.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review federal and state corporate income tax returns across multiple legal entities and approximately 50 states.
• Assist with quarterly tax estimates, extensions, and annual tax filings.
• Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions under IFRS.
• Partner with internal accounting teams and external auditors to support tax reporting and compliance activities.
• Assist with tax audits, notices, and regulatory inquiries.
• Support tax planning initiatives, tax rate forecasting, and tax research projects.
• Review 1099 and 1042 information return filings.
• Assist with property tax, sales and use tax, annual reports, and business license filings.
• Manage tax depreciation records and related reporting.
• Provide tax guidance and support to Finance, Payroll, HR, Legal, Marketing, and other business partners.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive corporate tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
• Strong understanding of federal and state corporate income tax regulations.
• Experience preparing corporate tax returns and income tax provisions.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Taxation.
• CPA or EA certification.
• Experience in a large corporate tax department or public accounting environment.
• Experience with SAP, JDE, SAP Fixed Assets Tax Software, or similar systems.
