This is an initial 12 month contract.\nWork on complex packaging projects from design and development through to implementation.\nCollaborate with experienced technical, manufacturing, quality and external partner teams.\nUse your specialist engineering knowledge to improve packaging performance, processes and product delivery.\nAbout Your New Job\nAs the Senior Packaging Engineer, you will work as an experienced technical specialist and individual contributor, taking responsibility for packaging projects and initiatives from design through to implementation.\nYour responsibilities may include:\nDesigning, developing and testing a wide range of containers and packaging solutions used to protect, display and handle products.\nDefining packaging specifications based on product requirements, cost limitations, legal obligations and the level of protection required.\nAssessing packaging performance against external factors such as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variation, light, heat, rough handling and tampering.\nDesigning package exteriors with consideration for product identification, sales appeal, aesthetic quality, printing requirements and production methods.\nSupporting prototype line development within manufacturing facilities and plants.\nManaging packaging documentation and supporting the coordination of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).\nLeading or contributing to projects designed to introduce new technologies, improve processes or enhance packaging performance.\nWorking with internal stakeholders, senior customers, suppliers and vendors to communicate requirements, resolve issues and achieve project objectives.\nProviding guidance, coaching and technical support to less experienced colleagues.\nDelegating tasks and reviewing work products where required as part of project or process leadership.\nWhat Skills You Need\nA Bachelor’s degree and at least four years’ relevant experience; or\nA Master’s degree and at least two years’ relevant experience; or\nA PhD with relevant academic or industry experience.\nStrong experience in packaging engineering, packaging design, product development or a closely related technical discipline.\nThe ability to design, develop and test packaging solutions against product, regulatory, manufacturing and commercial requirements.\nExperience managing technical projects or processes, from initial concept through to implementation.\nKnowledge of documentation management and Good Manufacturing Practices, ideally within a regulated manufacturing environment.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and recommend practical improvements.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, including experience working with senior internal and external contacts.\nThe ability to work autonomously while coaching colleagues and collaborating effectively across different functions.\nWhat’s on Offer\nA senior-level packaging engineering opportunity within a technically complex and innovative environment.\nThe chance to lead significant packaging projects and contribute to new technologies, process improvements and product development.\nExposure to cross-functional teams, manufacturing facilities, vendors and senior stakeholders.\nThe opportunity to mentor colleagues and develop your technical leadership experience.\nWhat’s Next\nApply now to be considered for this Senior Packaging Engineer opportunity in Galway.
