This role will be the operational backbone: building observability, automating infrastructure, running release pipelines, hardening the platform for high availability, and anchoring on-call escalation. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys carrying reliability end to end rather than directing a team from a distance.\nKey Responsibilities\n\nBuild observability across the stack: metrics, logs, traces, synthetic checks, alerting, and routing to on-duty staff.\n\nDevelop infrastructure as code for repeatable, auditable environments.\n\nManage CI/CD pipelines and safe release patterns, including blue/green, canary, and reliable rollback.\n\nDesign high-availability and DR/BCP practices, including failover testing and recovery objectives.\n\nLead incident response, root cause analysis, runbooks, and post-incident improvements.\n\nParticipate in on-call escalation as part of a fair rotation with the founding team.\n\nKeep self-hosted services, including real-time media, websocket, and event processing, healthy and performant.\n\nSkills & Experience Required - Essential \n\n5+ years in SRE, DevOps, platform, or production infrastructure roles.\n\nStrong Linux, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud experience.\n\nHands-on observability experience with metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, and alerting.\n\nSolid CI/CD and safe deployment practice.\n\nReal incident-response experience on always-on systems, with comfort carrying a phone on-call.\n\nUses AI tools to work faster while retaining responsibility for design, architecture, and judgment calls.\n\nSelf-directed and comfortable carrying a problem end to end without close supervision.\n\nSkills & Experience Required - Desirable\n\nExperience supporting real-time media, such as WebRTC, video, or SIP, in production.\n\nRunning self-hosted infrastructure on cloud, not just managed PaaS.\n\nExposure to regulated or high-availability environments, such as telecom, healthcare, finance, or public sector.\n\nAmerican Sign Language (ASL) knowledge is a strong plus.\n\nOur Stack\n\nWebRTC-based real-time media, self-hosted.\n\nTypeScript / Node ecosystem.\n\nPostgreSQL, Redis, websocket, and event-driven services.\n\nSIP and telephony through specialist carrier partners.\n\nCloud infrastructure, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD.\n\nAsync-first workflow with GitHub, Linear, Slack, and Notion.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\nBuild the reliability foundation of a mission-driven accessibility service from the ground up.\n\nReal responsibility and direct work with the founders, without bureaucracy layers.\n\nFlexible, results-focused remote work.\n\nJoin a Deaf-led company making everyday communication more accessible.\n\nThe anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $225,000. The role may require flexibility to support urgent service requests and changing scheduling needs.\nThis position is primarily remote and open to candidates residing in U.S. states in which SignWow is authorized to employ personnel.
