Deep expertise in BDD-driven test automation using Gherkin and Cucumber on the C#.NET stack, combined with strong engineering discipline and leadership, is essential for ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of software applications that underpin the financial system.\nBy designing robust, maintainable automation frameworks and embedding quality early in the development cycle, the Senior SDET plays a crucial role in mitigating risks associated with software releases - translating into significant cost savings by avoiding rework and potential financial losses due to production errors.\nSenior SDETs take on leadership roles within engineering and testing teams, guiding junior members, driving automation strategy and framework design, conducting code/test reviews, and mentoring others on BDD and automation best practices.\nWHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR\nTechnical Expertise:\nExpert-level design and implementation of BDD frameworks using Gherkin and Cucumber (SpecFlow) on the C#.NET platform.\n\nStrong hands-on programming skills in C#.NET for building and maintaining scalable, reusable test automation frameworks (Hybrid and Data-driven).\n\nProficiency in agile methodology and workflow, Azure DevOps (pipelines, work item tracking), and Salesforce know-how.\n\nKnowledge of databases and SQL queries: ability to write queries to extract test data or verify results.\n\nUnderstanding of CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated BDD test suites into build/release pipelines.\n\nWorking knowledge of Capital Markets - financial instruments, trading platforms, regulations, and industry best practices - is a strong plus.\n\nTesting Activities:\nDesign and execute test plans and strategies: align testing activities with business requirements and project objectives.\n\nAuthor clear, business-readable Gherkin feature files and scenarios covering functionalities, user journeys, and edge cases.\n\nBuild and maintain automated regression, smoke, and sanity suites; execute manual testing where needed; identify, report, and track defects.\n\nPerform performance and security testing to ensure the system meets required standards.\n\nAnalyze automation results and test metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to optimize testing processes and framework reliability.\n\nCommunication and Collaboration:\nEffectively communicate with stakeholders: developers, product owners, business analysts, etc.\n\nCollaborate with the development team to resolve defects and improve code quality.\n\nParticipate in code reviews and provide testing/automation feedback.\n\nPresent testing results, automation coverage, and findings in clear and concise reports.\n\nProactive, eager to learn, and driven by efficiency and accuracy.\n\nAdditional Responsibilities:\nStay updated on industry trends: continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and BDD/automation best practices, including within the Capital Markets domain.\n\nContribute to the testing community: share knowledge and expertise through presentations, internal training, or participation in industry forums.\n\nTake ownership of specific automation areas: become a subject matter expert for the BDD/Cucumber automation framework and drive its evolution.\n\nWHAT WE VALUE\nMust have\n7-8 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) / Test Automation Engineer in Quality Assurance.\n\nExpert-level, hands-on experience with Gherkin and Cucumber (SpecFlow) for BDD test automation, including framework design and implementation.\n\nStrong programming proficiency in C#.NET; target platform for automation development is C#.NET.\n\nSolid experience with test automation frameworks (Hybrid and Data-driven) and UI/API automation tooling.\n\nUp-to-date knowledge of the latest test automation developments and BDD best practices.\n\nStrong analytical skills.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills and a self-assured approach.\n\nExcellent communication and presentation skills, including listening skills.\n\nProactive nature and a natural drive for problem-solving.\n\nEnthusiastic, committed, and result-oriented.\n\nGood to have\nCapital Markets domain knowledge is a plus, preferably with buy-side firms and experience.\n\nISTQB certification.\n\nExperience working with Reference Data Management setup and understanding of various asset classes (Equity, Derivatives, Fixed Income, etc.) and market data feeds (Reuters, Bloomberg, MarkIT, etc.).\n\nExperience with performance/security testing tools and practices.\n\nThe expectations of a Senior SDET's behavioural skills are centered around an agile mindset of working in teams. Business knowledge requirements vary across product domains but are overall within the financial sector.
